Vsg no weightloss

No, I think the NP was pointing out that the sleeve isn't magic, and you can eat around it, so it's up to you to establish good eating patterns.  If you don't, you WILL end up being that person who eats a pizza in a day.

I had surgery on 5/14/14 with a surgeon who had also only performed about 80 VSGs. I too was concerned, not that my sleeve wouldn't 'work' but that I would have a higher likelihood of complications because of it. My surgeon, is however the chief of surgery at a large metropolitan hospital and had performed over 2,000 bypasses among various other GI/abdominal procedures. I know I'm still very early out but so far I have had a wonderful text book recovery and have lost almost 17lbs. Is it all about the surgeon doing a great job? No. I have been following my instructions and rules to a 'T' and that is a HUGE part of it. I would think if a surgeon 'didn't do their job' it would result more in complications, as opposed to the patient not losing the expected amount of weight. Not to say there aren't cases where the surgeon doesn't take enough of the stomach or not making the incision at the right part, which could affect results. But I think cases like the latter are few and far between. I would look more into the surgeons overall reputation and quality of his or her work rather than just the number of VSGs they've performed.

As others have noted, it's pretty much impossible to not lose weight post surgery.  It's the re-gain that's the problem in that regard.

The potential concern with an inexperienced surgeon is leaks, strictures, and other post op complications.  Has your surgeon done a lot of RNYs?  Or has he only done 80 bariatric surgeries in total?  If the latter, what is his complication rate?

Hi, I'm new in here but ur not far from Orlando regional and there's supposed to be some really good doctors there with lots of experience. Have you tried them?

I was told about Dr Jawad. A friend of mine had gastric bypass with him a few years ago and had high recommendations w him. She had no complications except the weight came off too fast, she says and she looks absolutely amazing. She's my inspiration for everything.

I work for a hospital that's not affiliated w ormc or I would go to him myself. I called a doctor in Ocala and they wanted a non-refundable $500 just for a consult. I found that to be shady so I changed docs.

Thanks.. I actually have been looking into dr jawad because he also does surgery here in ocala. I keep calling his office and they literally won't answer... It goes to a voicemail to leave name and number I've done it like 3 times no call back. I emailed asking questions since I have so many and want to make sure he is still doing the procedures in ocala and they keep just emailing me back saying to fill out make appointment ... Like I can't make an appointment without talking to them. It's so frustrating . Thank you so much for the reccomend action though I really wish I could get ahold of them. Do you know which doctor you called here in ocala? I was looking into doctor ramos...they never said anything about a fee they said everythig if included in the price they gave me. I know that there has been a surgeon here who lost his license ...where are you from ?

I respectfully disagree on finding a new surgeon based on how many VSG he has done.  With any Dr doing this procedure, you would want to know his stats anyways.  With any surgeon, you need one that your comfortable with, so if you are comfortable with this surgeon, stay with him.  Surgeons don't just sit around and one day decided to start doing a new procedure and they will just learn as he goes, he went through much more than that before he was allowed to do his very first one.  I would ignore the numbers........  JMHO
