Gwen, I am sorry to hear about your dad.  Thank you for sharing what you have been going thru.  Goes to show that we can go thru tough times and still keep our heads held as high as we can.  That is so awesome about the walking!!!  I bet your mom is so happy and proud of you!  Don't let the crackers or the few snacks get you down.  I know you are back on track and will keep workin that sleeve.

Best of luck on the scale!!!  :)

Thank you so much.  It was a challenging week for sure.  But I'm feeling a lot more human now that I'm home and have had a good night in my own bed.

And the scale was nice to me - down 1.9lb!  Quite a difference from the billion I feared I had gained.

You've had a rough week but I have a feeling that scale will be a whole lot kinder to you than you think.  And if it's not remember that there's no way you gained fat while you were gone...it's going to be water weight because of the travel, etc.

I'm so happy that you were able to walk with your mom and spend some bonding time with her!  And I'm really glad to hear she's letting you know how proud she is of you

The scale was much kinder than I feared!  I actually lost 1.9 lb.  Super awesome.  It's nice that I'm still able to eat home cooked food when I'm with my parents and I'm sure that helps.  It's still a mind screw to go from not snacking at all to feeling like I'm snacking all the time while there :P

Hey Gwen - so very sorry to hear about your Dad! That has got to be a very tough situation to deal with, along with your new journey in the mix of it all. But you are doing great, and handling it all like a champ! Don't stress about the crackers :) None of us are every going to be perfect, we are all human, and going to slip sometimes. You are aware of it, and I believe you will be just fine. Hang in there and keep your head up!

Being able to help out with your parents is such a gift, isn't it? As difficult as it is (and I know it's difficult!), it is an opportunity that so many people just aren't able to have because of work/money/distance/life. I'm so sorry about your dad, but I'm so glad that you're getting to spend time with him and your mom during this time.

You're a rock star, my dear. Even if snacking gets the better of you, make sure you're getting your water and things will balance out a little better. Take care and be kind to yourself

It really is a gift and I'm so grateful that my lifestyle is such that I've been able to help my parents as much as I've been able to during all of these health problems of my dad's.  Otherwise I'd just have been stuck worrying a lot and feeling helpless!  And no matter how challenging it can be, it would be much harder if I couldn't help.

Hopefully I'll have more willpower the next time I visit.  And that my willpower will quickly rebuild now that I'm back home again, eh? :D

Gwen, I'm going to echo what everyone else is saying. You are a great daughter and walking the line you've had to walk is hard. But you lost weight in the bargain, and gained traction in the relationship with your mom. Sounds like a win to me. :)
