The Hardest Week Yet
Gwen,
i'm so sorry to hear about your dad and his health issues, our prayers are with you and your family! Don't beat yourself up over a few crackers, your gonna have some hard times and setback through your journey. The good thing is that you recognized that you shouldn't be eating them and kept it to a minimum. And it doesn't hurt to share some crackers with your dad, you got to make memories while your loved ones are still with you. But I loved your story about walking with your mom, because a few years ago my mom did weigh****chers (still is) and lost 175lbs, and she would walk 4-5 miles a night usually and she would ask me to walk EVERY single time and my answer was ALWAYS no. i figured i would pass out or die and just plain out complain the whole time and i didn't want to spoil her walk for her. I am from PA (i saw you were to, where in PA are your parents? I am from the Williamsport area) But i moved to Virginia in '08, but i visit home regularly since all my family is there. But 3 weeks ago I went home for a weekend and I know what time my mom always goes for her walks, so I hurried up and got ready for a walk cuz i knew she would ask me and the time came and she did and i said YES! Her mouth almost hit the floor! But for the whole weekend I went with her for her walks and we became alot closer. So just remember how great your doing and keep charging ahead, you'll be fine...And you sound like a great daughter!!
Andy
What a wonderful story!! Isn't it great to finally be able to be active with someone?! I'm glad you've had a similar experience. :)

My dad died last October, and my mom was hospitalized four times between August and February, so I know what it's like to have one's life turned all topsy-turvy when one's parents begin to fail critically.
I think you handled this well. You struggled, you are aware of your poor choices, but just as aware of your good ones. This will help you better prepare next trip. It's important to continue the good fight, but also give yourself some extra kindness and forgiveness when you don't do as well as you'd hoped.
Many, many hugs, Gwen. And hang in there!
I'm so sorry that I didn't reply to this sooner - and I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how hard it must be to lose a parent, that will throw my world completely upside down when it happens. And it's one of the many reasons I see a therapist now... in hopes that when that time comes I might be a bit more capable. But I doubt it :/
The trip I had this week went much better. My only snack was a few pieces of pineapple and I had my scale!!
