After 3 years my weight loss has still been a struggle! Within the first 2 years I lost 75 lbs. I could never get to my goal weight. Its  been frustrating And please don't think I have when back to my old eating habits I still observe what we are taught, I chew my food well I do not drink 30 min to 1 hr. before and after I eat I have not had a carbonated drink in over 3 years,  keep a food diary and exercise 5 times or more a week. I cook all my own food very rarely go out to eat.  I have actually been thinking about taking diet pills!! that's crazy. I have started to gain weight I had a pain shot and put on 11 lbs. in 1 month I am now considered overweight again. I don't know which is worse the weight that causes pain or the pain it self I feel lost  none of my cloths fit I refuse to were stretch pants. Am I alone in this or has anyone else experienced the same thing?

Exactly what are you eating? You might be chewing well and observing all of the right "rules" (carbonation, drinking times, etc.), but when it all boils down, if you aren't eating the right things, then, yes. You will gain weight. Are you eating many carbs? How's your protein? Those numbers will make the difference.

What is in your food diary? That will help you get a LOT better answers than the information that we currently have.

On a average day I have two 8 oz. cups of black coffee later 1 soft boiled egg w a 1/2 slice of homemade whole grain bread w a dab of honey or sugar free jelly, lunch 1/2 cup of homemade pinto chili beans with 2 saltine crackers, a protein bar for a snack, for dinner last night I had 2oz baked swordfish with 1/2 cup of green salad and 1 tsp. dressing later a snack will be 1 oz. slice gouda or goat cheese cheese after that 8oz Tazo chia tea. For breakfast to day I had 1 scrambled egg w 1 slice turkey bacon, lunch was 1/2 tuna sandwich with lemon tomato and lettuce later a glass of orange juice. tonight for dinner I will BBQ a 2 oz. piece of top sirloin with a 1/4 baked sweet potato with a dab of butter and grilled broccoli with lemon. my snack is always a slice of cheese  and before bed I have my chai tea. Plus I do manage to drink at least 48 ounces of water not including my coffee or tea. As I have said I do keep a food dairy so I am pretty sure its not a food problem.   My food dairy shows I am below my carbs, sugar, etc. with more to eat if I wanted to. But thank you for your interest and help.  I believe I need to see my doctor to find out what the hell is going on.

Ok, hmmm... I'm glad that you really are keeping a detailed diary. Sorry if I came off sounding snotty. Too many people come here and claim that they are doing everything right and then it turns out that they are eating junk and not holding themselves accountable. If this is really the way that you are eating, and you are tracking everything, I definitely encourage you to follow your gut and get in touch with your bariatric center for a follow up. Best of luck to you.

You did not appear snotty to me. I took you as being concerned so god bless and thank you.

What are your guidelines? Calories, carbs, etc?? Some people need very low calories to maintain (like 900-1000 calories a day). Are you using guidelines from your doctor or other sleevers here or the myfitnesspal guidelines? If it is the MFP guidelines, they are not set up for us bariatric surgery people.

You can gain weight eating healthy foods if your portion sizes have crept up.  It might help you to measure and record everything you eat for a few weeks to see if your portion sizes have increased.

Hi Christine -

I am going through that right now as well. It's been 2 1/2 years since my surgery and I have not hit my goal weight yet either. I have put back on about 16# during that time and I'm doing what you are as well. But I stopped charting my food intake and "guessing" my portions. I still can't eat alot of things I should be able too and I'm not a "fish" person so that's not an option. I still have problems with chicken (which I love) so I have to make due with beef, pork and turkey. Just yesterday that damn scaled told me "200" and I cried my eyes out for about 2 hours. It scares me to death to think that I'm back up that high again.

So I have basically gone back to scratch. I have started charting again on Health Tracker here and I have cut out my cheese (swiss) and turkey sausages as my snacks. My calorie intake as gone down considerable once I started doing this so now it's a matter of keeping things in check and the weight will come off again. I'm renewing my season pass to Six Flags here in Texas so that I have some place to walk around all day and still enjoy the day with my husband, who BTW, loves me no matter what size I am and supports me in everything I do.

So...don't give up...stick with it. Start charting your food intake and I think you'll see a wonderful change in things soon. It won't happen overnight (hey, we didn't get fat overnight either..LOL) but it will happen...Lots of love coming your way...

Oh thank the lord I found someone else in this world that does understand me, I also cried my eyes out I feel so helpless.  I haven't given up yet!  Unfortunately my husband is not as understanding but he loves me and I love him married for 29 years. I was just in Texas for my grandsons graduation! I have 2 dogs that I walk on the beach weekly so mentally that helps me I will continue to stay on track but if I keep gaining weight with doing everything that we are supposed to be doing I think I am going back to the dr. to check on a revisional surgery. God Blesses us and he blessed me with you.  Thank you so much for your encouragement.
