Question
My understanding has always been that "things itch when they heal." So I just did my best to ignore it

ask you surgeon , but ice might help , do not put any kind of medicine on it without your surgeons ok
itching means it is healing unless it is red and hot
i don't think a tiny amount of blood from the staples is a problem but it is safest to call your surgeon thee is someone on call 24/7 ,if it is a lot of blood call your surgeon or go to urgent care or ER
I had an allergic reaction to the solution they washed me with (it wasn't betadyne it was something else) and when the glue went over the solution all of my incisions had a red ring around them and I broke out in raised red hives all across my belly. None of my incisions were opening and I had to work with my surgeon to find what I could use as he was against steroids as we are still healing in the first 4 weeks. He gave me over the counter Benadryl and Benadryl cream. However, I would definitely consult your surgeon before putting anything near your incisions.
Good luck I feel your pain. The itching IS part of the healing but when it gets out of control....call your doc for sure!
Best wishes!!
