5DPT 5 day pouch test... Plateau FOR REAL
So I am thinking about trying the 5 Day test mostly to help me get back on track. Logging my food on my fitness pal.... I see that I am eating between 1000 to 1300 calories a day and the CARBS are WOOOO....
I have noticed that my capacity for food has INCREASED a LOT. I hope I have not stretched my sleeve. Next month will be my 1 year post op revision sleever. I wish I would have had the sleeve first instead of the crap band but oh well. People say that revision patients lose the same amount as a new.... Soooooooo I am for sure like doing things wrong.
I am a little nervous about doing the strict plan though because I am taking this Metformin now. I have not gotten sick yet and I am 3 days into the med. You have to eat with the Metformin or you will get sick. I am not sure if a protein shake is going to cut it....
Frisco!!!!!! --- CHANGE!!! I did a search on this and someone misquoted Mr. Frisco. Sorry Frisco!!! Thanks for letting me know.
Is this the 5DPT version you still suggest?
Day 1: protein drinks
Day 2: protein drink and (2) 200 calorie protein meals
Day 3: same as day 2
Day 4: (3) 200 calorie protein meals and (1) veggie snack
Day 5: (3) 200 calorie protein meals and (2) veggie only snacks

Honestly, you couldn't pay me to do the "5-day pouch test". First of all, we don't have a pouch. Second, it's just another term for a fad/crash diet. Seriously, doesn't it sound just like what you would do on a Slim Fast shake diet? Gross...
You said it yourself - you're eating too many calories and carbs in order to lose. All you have to do is go back to what worked during the first 6 months: 800 calories, 80+ grams of protein, under 40 grams of carb per day. And you can do all that with REAL food! Exercise and add 100 oz. of water to your day. That's it - you can do this! ![]()
Well you have a point there...

Yup. What Tracy said. I think you'll find your balance again by doing low cal low carb with a focus on dense protein.

I'm not sure how good the pouch test is, it seems like an urban legend to me. Your calorie count seems a little high for losing weight & probably falls more in line with people who are in maintenance. You already know that the carbs are crazy rt now & getting off & dramatically reducing them & upping your dense protein would help & satiate you more than the protein shakes.
What is your drs plan? I'm only 5 months out but I've cut way back on protein shakes now that I get protein from food instead & it's way more satisfying. If you're cutting back on calories, get them from protein like turkey, fish, beef etc rather than carbs.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another.

Hey Lady! I have been in the same boat as you! Carb madness and stress! I did not gain anything, but was at a complete stand still on loosing for about 1 1/2 months. 3 days ago, I literally just went back to the basics. Exactly what Tracey said " 800 calories, 80+ grams of protein, under 40 grams of carb per day". I am back to drinking a shake 1st thing in the AM, and I also upped my fluid intake a bit. I have lost 4 pounds in the last 3 days :) You can do this! Just "white knuckle it" and get the carbs out of your system ![]()
Thanks Amber!!!
I will go back to the basics and try this all over again.
