I was also told that it could contribute to ulcers.

This is gonna sound odd. I was never a coffee drinker, yes I would have a cup if it was a cold day and some Mexican bread, but that was not common. But now.... I became a regular coffee drinker starting between the 4-5th month post-op. It helps me go regularly - if you know what I mean. I stick to one cup, and not strong at all, with t either fat free or sugarfree hazelnut creamer. I couldn't do that at the beggining, your stomach has to get to a point where it's healed enough for you to do so, if you want to or can tolerate it.

I am 3 months post op and have been having regular coffee with cream for about a week now. I fix myself a cup every morning but can only drink half, plus I don't make strong coffee so I'm not getting much but it is enough to satisfy me and make me feel human again! Also, my weight loss continues!

i was allowed coffee after a month.  initially I made it half and half with hot skim milk to cut the acidity.  its good that way and you get some protein. soon after i moved on to regular coffee with beloved half and half. tracked it and counted calories. five years later i am sitting here having a cup.  my surgeon says its an appetite surpressant and that seems to be true.  try a different brand if its icky.   diane
