Biotin survey
I read here in the last month or two that some women had hair growth in unwanted places when they were taking Biotin. I'm losing my hair like crazy now and would like to take it, but I don't want a beard. The woman that does my hair said she hadn't heard of that side effect and was wondering if it was maybe caused instead by the change in hormones that we are experiencing. I thought I would take a survey. How many of you have used Biotin and been happy with the results and how many have not been happy?
Thanks!!
I took biotin and it did nothing for me other than (possibly) resulting in unwanted facial hair, leg hair, belly hair, etc. I don't know whether it was the biotin or some other hormonal type issue that caused the unwanted hair. It certainly didn't help with hair loss or regrowth on my head though. Total waste of money for me.
I have been happy with it. I have had no unwanted hair growth. I also use biotin shampoo. The shampoo seems to help with giving hair more fullness. I bought mine at Walmart for less than six dollars. Good luck. I know how disheartening this can be. Just as my self confidence get better due to the weight loss here comes something else to be insecure about. I am constantly asking my husband if I look like i am thinning. Poor guy. Lol I ordered some scalp concealer from Amazon just to be on the safe side. It may sound vain but at this point it is more of a security blanket incase I need it.
Just wanted to share about the shampoo and concealer incase you need it.
Best wishes! Tina
Biotin will do nothing to help with hair loss. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telogen_effluvium Save your money and ask your stylist for a cut that will help hide the loss.

unwanted facial hair...it made my mustache and chin hairs grow really well - but didn't seem to do much for my head hair.

I took biotin knowing that it would do nothing to stop the hair shedding, but hoping it would strengthen the new hair growth. All it did was make the hair on my face grow in dark, thick and curly. No bueno. I'm going to need electrolysis to rid my face of this permanent hair growth.
It could be hormonal changes, but I'd never seen such an influx of hair growth at this rate and intensity in my life. Once I stopped the biotin, at least the hair growth stopped sprouting in other places.

I'm still pre-op, but I've been taking Biotin for 6 months now and my hair and nails are growing like crazy. My nails were horrid prior to taking it, broken all the time, peeling, etc. Now I have to cut/file them down about 2x a week. I too have the unwanted hair on my face (chiny *****hin) but it was there before - just grows faster now. I love the results I've been getting (aside from my ***** and intend to keep taking it even after surgery.
Losing hair after surgery is the result of the shock to your body; rapid weight loss, surgery, losing the hormones in the fat cells, etc. I had surgery 2 years ago on my leg (broke it badly and had to have 2 surgeries) and lost hair then. It started falling out at about 2 months, stopped after about 6 months and it's fine now.
