We are at home for the holidays which is rare as we are usually in Senegal but this year we decided to go in February instead so I am excited about the festive meals. Going to do a turkey dinner for the 24th sort of more of a thanksgiving theme but we love that food so its a good occasion to do it. Then on the 25th we go to a friend's and she is making goose with pears and rice. Its going to be yummmmmm! I haven't thought of breakfasts but eggs and sausages and pancakes will certainly be here. I am good with eggs and sausages. And of course will have the goose and turkey and veggies.

I don't know that I've ever had goose before!  That sounds awesome.

On Christmas Eve we stay home and celebrate Christmas as a family. I haven't decided what meal I'm going to make, but it'll be sleeve-friendly.

Christmas morning we have brunch at my parents house (my favorite meal of the year!) I'm not sure what I'll have to choose from as it's different every year, but there's always a protein choice or two.

My husband's big family (he has 8 siblings) is getting together the following Saturday and the tradition there is soup. We have 6-7 different soups along with ham and/or turkey. Everyone loves my dinner rolls and decorated sugar cookies, so that's what I'll bring even though I can't eat them. :-)

I love hearing what different people do and peoples traditions! Great post!

Im polish and we have done traditional Christmas (Wigilia) in the past (which is fairly healthy, fish, soup, etc. We don't eat until you can see the first star in the sky). We have also done an array of other things. Christmas Eve is also a bigger deal for us. I'm hosting finner this year and I will be making city chicken, kielbasa, ham, pierogis, potato pancakes, Kapusta and more sides! I know pierogis are off limits and I can make me one city chicken without breeding. I love cooking and especially polish food that my mom and Babcia taught me to make!!

Christmas Day my aunt is hosting and I know prime rib is one the menu. Yum.

Happy Holidays and here is to making good food choices!

Wigilia sounds super :)  But what's a city chicken?  This is new to me!

City chicken isn't a true Polish dish, but true to the Eastern Euro immigrants who can uo the U.S. back in the day. Its basically pork and veal theaded on a small stick, coated in breading and then fried and baked. Healthy, huh?? Ha. We ate at a Polish place in Fells when I was in Baltimore this past April but city chicken wasn't on the menu. I know it's big in Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
