Thoughts on my ultimate goal weight
I've been trying to figure this out too. I'm 5'3 and I set my first goal at 160, though my BMI saying I should be under 120. I would love to have a normal BMI but I just can't imagine being 120. Perhaps because I'm only 2 months out. Like you, though, I'm not stuck on a number. I'm stuck on being healthy.
I did the same thing as you. I am 5'3 and my weight at surgery was 225lbs. My goal was 125 so I could lose 100 lbs. By the time I hit around 140 every one kept saying how gaunt and skinny I looked, but I didn't care; I had to see 125 on the scale. I was around 127 for a good two months but as my one year surgiversary approached I was determined to get there. It turns out on the morning of my one year anniversary the scale read 125 lbs!!! I also took a picture! The same week I had my dr apt and had 125 recorded. Since that week I have never been 125 lbs again. I am now maintaining around 131 and feel great. I have set my max weight at 135 and I am hoping I can maintain here. My advice is to try to get to the 120 and see how you feel. Its a hell of a lot easier to gain weight back if you don't like it.

I have 190 as a goal but would like to go lower. Maybe just for vanity sake. I feel pretty damn good at the weight I am now but I would like to be able to run better when playing with the grand kids. Also, I would like to get down to a size 36 waist pant and a 16 1/2 neck as those sizes are pretty easy to find in stores. Currently I am in 40" and 17 1/2.

I came up with my goal range pretty much based on the BMI chart. I figured smack in the middle of healthy for my height was a reasonable place to land for an average built female, (BMI is not an accurate measurement for super athletic, body-builder types and will typically skew them as "overweight" when they're not, but for me, it's a decent starting place. I give myself a pretty wide range, between 130 and 145 for my 5'6". I weigh once per week and if I hit 145, I go back to tracking and cut back till I get back in range. I'd LIKE to be 135, (135 would be an even 100 pound loss and that makes OCD me all tingly), LOL! But haven't hit it yet. I seem pretty comfy between 139-142. So I look at it like this, I'm healthy and happy and off my meds. Will I really look or feel any different in 5 pounds. Not likely. This. Is. Fine. At some point if I decide to do the work to get to 135, I will. Until then, gonna be happy maintaining where I am!

I set my goal at a normal BMI (and what I was able to previously diet my way down to in my 20's, from 300+ lbs.. 155.) At nearly 5'7" 155 was a pretty good goal. I got down to mid 130's and despite looking spooky and overly boney (non-existent chest, rib bones up the sternum) wanted to lose more for the belly.. which wasn't realistic- as it was just skin! A normal (high side of normal, pre-plastics) is realistic for the majority of us.. the skin does add at most 7 or so lbs for someone 150+ lbs excess. Many overestimate the amount of skin, but overall- it's not much, plus muscle/bone mass does decrease as we do.. unfortunately. For me, 145-155 is a good range, lower and I start looking gaunt.. which I realize now, but was oblivious to the first couple years out! Set your goal to just inside a "normal" BMI and assess your physique when you get there! It doesn't hurt dropping a bit lower, as yes- for most, there is a 10lb or so regain.
