Call me crazy.... Ears

Okay, this is weird and probably not relevant to the sleeve, but here goes... I had surgery about 2 1/2 months ago... immediately after surgery I noticed my ears felt clogged... like I had water in them or I was on a plane and they needed to pop... you know what I'm saying.... anyway, every once in a while it goes away, but the norm is that I almost constantly feel that way... I'd say about 90% of the time.  This was not a problem at all prior, and now it is all the time and it started immediately after surgery... Am I going crazy?  Or am I losing so much weight I can't hear straight? ;)

It is probably not at all related to your surgery and a visit to your PCM will likely shed light on the cause.

Obviously you should talk to a doctor, but I'm going to go out on a limb here. I get a similar feeling sometimes and I'm 99% sure it's related to acid reflux. Basically, acid can get into your throat, where it has access to just about everything: larynx, Eustachian tube, sinuses. When I get that feeling, it's associated with post nasal drip, sore throat, and hoarseness. It's actually a different thing from GERD: Laryngopharyngeal reflux.

Thanks!  That actually makes sense!  I hadn't thought about that.... I have had reflux since surgery (never a problem before) and I am taking something for it.  I'm going to get an appointment with my Dr.

You are not crazy! This happened to me too for a whike around 2 mos out. Had to do a lot of intentional swallowing to get them to pop. It goes away!! Crazy isn't it ?!?!?

Thanks!  Good to know I'm not alone!! LOL  Sometimes I can tilt my head just right and it pops, but as soon as my head goes back so does the clogged up feeling.... and it is horrible when I'm on the treadmill. :(  I'm going to make an appointment with my Dr.

Thanks!  I hadn't thought of that... I have never been allergic to anything or had to deal with allergies.

Ha! I knew I couldn't be alone in this.

In early December, I made this post on the general forums looking for input on the hearing changes I've experienced.

But essentially, I'm finding that my Eustacian Tube opens and doesn't close quickly on its own, like it used to. So I'm doing all sorts of things to try to "pop" my ears and close the Eustacian Tube. Pain in the butt... especially given that I sing in a choir and having that echo in my head is really annoying!
