I use to love getting a massage every now and then when I was lighter, then I stopped because I was embarrassed by my weight.  Now I am worried that when I reach my goal, I will be embarrassed of my excess skin.  (I am sure I will have it, because I am 55, have lost 40 lbs. and I already see it.)  Has anybody had a massage after goal even with the excess skin?  (I would like to have one as a reward when I do reach goal. (60 lbs. to go). Thanks!

I had a massage 5 days after my surgery and a couple times since. I am no where near goal. I say go for it!

Thank you for sharing! Makes me feel better to know that I shouldn't be worried about what people think.

Pleas DO pamper yourself and get a massage. Massage Therapists are used to seeing all sorts of bodies...Large, thin, tight skin, loose skin...so don't be embarrassed. Wear your loose skin like a badge of honor from doing all you have done to lose the weight. My VSG is in two days, I know I will have loose skin too because I am 100 pounds overweight and age 62. I am self-pay, so I won't be able to afford plastics...but that is OK...I am doing this for my health...and I will indeed wear my loose skin like a badge of honor. Kay :-) (PS--I pray too)

You are so right! They do see all types of figures.  I guess I need to try to get over my shame and be proud of my accomplishments.  Thanks for helping me see the light!  Good luck with your surgery I am 2-1/2 months out and have lost 40 lbs already, so in about 2-1/2 months from now you should be much lighter too!  (I had 100 lbs to lose as well.) God bless and keep praying because God will see you through this.  (He did for me!) Take care!

Perfect!  It helps to hear it from a person that does them.  Thanks for your advice!

I used to go to the spa all the time, then I got too big to fit into the robes.  I'm looking forward to going again soon.  I received a gift certificate for Christmas so I can't wait...so go ahead and enjoy!

I had a massage today and it was wonderful! I am no where near goal but I have lost enough that things are drooping. I wasn't self conscious at all. I was more concerned with making sure I had shaved well than I was about any loose or drooping skin. This is my year to take care of my health - all parts of it. A massage is a great way for me to relax and feel at peace. Go for it!
