Almost 15 years since I got my sleeve

Hi everyone
It's been almost 15years ago since I got my surgery in Tijuana Mx, and I got down to 130 from 240 and I kept the weight off for several years till Covid and family problems and depression got the best of me and I gained most of my weight back really fast I also have a sweet tooth and love to eat at night

I weigh 210 now and I'm pretty sure I stretched my sleeve out

my question is there anyone on here that knows if it's possible to tighten my sleeve back up or have lost weight once gaining it back?

Thank you!

I haven't heard of anything like that if you do, let me know I'm from Oregon and thinking about getting the duo Dental or something RNY I'm just not sure yet. I'm in the same boat as you I had surgery in 2010 sleeve and just the past couple years been in it all back I feel like I've stretched my sleeve that I can eat anything thinking about trying to go back to the beginning on the diet, but haven't done it yet have you do you think it could be done to shrink sleep and lose weight again?

Your restriction is probably still there but you need to change your diet to cut out sugar and processed food. Stick to protein first and then add some veg and small amounts of fruit. Crap food goes through your system quickly and makes your hungry so you eat more. If you go back to a clean diet you will notice that within a few weeks the amount you can eat ,if you do protein first for every meal, reduces. I regained after my surgery a couple of times but now I stick to a low carb, no sugar no flour diet and my restriction is as good as it was on day 1. I can only eat 2-3 ounces of dense protein at a time and I will add a small portion of veggies. I realized late in the game that I was addicted to sugar and then read Food Junkies by Dr. Vera Tarman about food/sugar addiction which wasn't recognized when I had surgery. I have lost all excess weight and maintain easily. So many other benefits as well. There is a lot of info on sugar addiction out there now. I have been SFGF for 3 years now and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. If this info had been around when I had surgery, I might not have needed it but many bariatric surgery patients now do SFGF.

No dumb questions - Sugar free, grain free. Many years after my VSG and after I had gained back a considerable amount of weight I learned that I was a sugar addict - could not moderate most carbs/processed foods. If you are interested in seeing if this is you I highly recommend you read "Food Junkies" by Dr. Vera Tarman. I have been following a SFGF diet for several years now - my weight has stabilized and I have lost my regain - I have next to no cravings and I do NOT try to moderate sugar/grains/processed foods as I have accepted that I cannot. This is freeing in a way I cannot but urge you to try. There is a support group run by Dr. Tarman on Facebook. I eat whole foods only, protein, dairy, eggs, low carb veggies and limited fruit like a small amount berries a couple of times a week. Dr. Tarman's book explains the whole addiction cycle and stages and how to go sugar free - not everyone has to go grain free but most flours are very processed and turn to sugar in the gut upon consumption so I can't eat them.

Hi there! I had my surgery back in Feb 2011 and kept it off, getting as low as 174 from 276. Slowly but surely, the weight came back on gradually until I had my revision in Sept 2021.

I hadn't stretched by sleeve a bit and it was the same as it was the 1st time - I just had to adjust to what I was eating. My doctor did move the bottom of my intestine that connected to my stomach a little so that it doesn't have so much to go through so that helped al lot.

I'm now back down to where I want to be again (170) - it was what I was eating, not how much.

Stay on track and you'll be good!

Hi there - I had my sleeve 15 years ago and just logged back in here as it has been my strength and support every time I have slipped up . I started my journey over 200 I think 238 lost to 137 at 1 year mark . Stayed at 145 up untiL about 4 years ago when we moved and retired. I have since gained to 155 - what I find is when I don't weigh daily and avoid the scale it's because I don't want to see that I have gained . So I am now back at weighing daily , counting calories , more protein little to no carbs and some increased exercise. Unfortunately there is no magic it really is about calories . Problem is it's slow going especially now since I'm older . 48 when had surgery now 62. I have been eating less than 1000 calories a day exercise 4 days a week an hour and have lost only 3 pounds it's been a month . But I will Never go back to being the fat girl . You can do this just go back to basics and be prepared it's going to take a while .
cheers

Hi,

I'm 13 year PO and gain 120 back. I was 346 and got down to 160. I had knee surgery in 2015 and was still eating like I was going to the gym 6 days a week. If you truly haven't focused on the issues that caused you to gain in the first place I would start there. Move as much as you possibly can, count calories on my fitness pal free version and go back to basics..

I was able to lose 20lbs on my own and then I was able to get Mounjaro and that has helped me lose 76lbs but that has taken 2 years. Its always going to be a journey. Hang in there you can do it. Maybe find a support group near you either at a local hosp. or from your surgeons office.

On you tube there is a workout "site" called Team Body Project, I love those. They are low impacts and the fact that they have bigger people doing the videos is a plus. Good luck!!
