I just came from an appointment at Plastic Surgery at Portsmouth Naval, and they won't even submit the info to Tricare to see if they will pay for it. They want over $4000 for JUST a breast lift!!!! I have heard of bypass patients having more and more success getting Tricare to pay out for a breast lift so I was hoping someone would have some advice for me. Thanks!!!!

Unfortunately, I have not heard of that, unless you go to a military surgeon - I heard that you get one free plastic surgery. I have been trying to get tricare to cover a tummy tuck or taking off skin on my arms/legs, etc. and I can't even get past my PCM.

Hi.  I do not know anyone that had Tricare pay for a breast surgery, however, I have a friend that had hers done at Walter Reed hospital in DC and only paid about $1000 for hers.  She had implants done.  They did them at the same time they did her TT.  I would keep pushing.  Complain all the time about your back.  This is kind of personal but do you get rashes/skin problems from them rubbing?  That can be a medical issue and cause for Tricare to pay.  At least other insurances think so, from what I have read.  Still I know that Tricare is very stingy with some surgeries.   Good luck.  I would love it if you kept me informed about how this goes for you.  I hope to have mine done sometime late next year. Hugs, Robin

the plastic surgeon i went to said they will not do just the lift, he recommended a reduction. he said that if you just get a lift, the girls will eventually sag again, anyways.

tricare approved the reduction/lift & tt as soon as they saw the pics & i was a lightweight! within a month of starting the whole ps journey is had my referral for the surgeaon, approval & surgery! i have now been recovering for 2 weeks!! good luck! bon

Really?? Did you have trouble with rashes and stuff?? I went from 276 pounds down to 130 and a size 5/6. The lady at PS today was at a MTF. They have their own clinic here at the hospital. Maybe that is why she was a total rip and wouldn't even hear what I had to say, just interrupted me over and over and over again

complain of back pain, shoulder pain. do you have large breasts? if so, complain of when you walk, your hands go numb. there is a nerve that runs down our arms large breast compress it & can make your hands go numb! if you have indentions from your bra straps, take pics & complain it gets irritated & hurts, complain of breast pain. lower back pain.   i didn't even go to my pcp when i was referred to a plastic surgeaon! i was a work in & i mentioned a few things to her, she put in a referral & the rest went very fast! i am hearing that the MTF's are not treating us, they are working on the men & women who are serving the counrty & wounded. if we were not at war, i think we would of gotten the surgery very easy from a mtf!   i only lost 75 lbs! i weigh 170, i am 5'09. i really only has 75 to lose. i am at my surgeons goal.   good luck! ps...i tried to e-mail you a bit more "private" info, but the email came back

Hello, Can you please elaborate more on your process of Tricare paying for your Reduction/Lift and TT?  I'm almost to my goal weight and need to start getting/preparing myself to how to get them to pay for these for me.  I am new to this site...so really don't know how to get around but can you please email personally on this manner?  Thanks in advance.

I had a friend that went to San diego to get it done. She told me that she had to pay for the implants and anesthesia and any other materiallneeded for the operation, I think she was referring to the gauze. Anyway she paid only 900 bucks to go from a 32 C to a 32 DD Tricare took care of it except for the 900 bucks
