Does it matter which arm you wear your medical alert bracelet?

I received a medical alert bracelet this morning for Christmas.  It is a pretty bracelet from Lauren's Hope. Is there a protocol to which arm to wear it on?  I'm right handed and wear my watch on my left arm.  Will it be discovered if I wear it on my right arm?  Merry Christmas! Katherine

Katherine, I think typically people wear them on the left arm.  MOM

I dont think it matters because my surgeon was showing me a bunch of different ones and he said If I didn't want to wear a bracelet i could wear it as an anklet. I'm severely allergic to metal so I haven't gotten one yet because I can't find out that's not going to make my arm or leg fall off. I might buy one and take just the "alert" part off and make one out of beads or sthng.  I need to get on that I guess.

I also have a medical alert bracelet from Lauren's Hope and I wear it on my right wrist, because my watch is on my left one.  And I have been wearing it everyday since about 2 weeks post-op, and that was almost 20 months ago. My engraving says the day I had surgery, what surgery I had, No NG tubes, and that I am asthmatic.  I wrote alot, just because the engraving cost the same no matter what and I wanted my money's worth!  I would say wear it on whatever wrist you want, and if you don't want to wear it then don't.  We don't NEED them, some people just feel safer wearing them.  It's all personal preference.  But I got the purple and silver stones on mine and I think it's pretty! Good luck!! Stacy

Thanks for all of your replies.   I got because I felt it was important that if I was unconscious or unable to talk for some reason, the medical response personnel should know that I had bariatric surgery and that I have restrictions.  I also put no sugars on mine, at someone's suggestion.  What if I get woozy from low blood sugar and I didn't have a snack on me (which almost happened while at the mall) and it wouldn't be good to have someone think I was diabetic and give me a nice glass of juice with sugar in it. It is just peace of mind.  I guess I will wear it where it is most comfortable since it doesn't seem to matter :) Thanks!
