Does Idaho Medicaid cover Gastric Bypass?

 I am not sure...about Idaho.......Tennessee Medicaid does.....BUT...finding a surgeon at a CENTER OF EXCELLENCE is hard........IF you have MEDICARE and Medicaid as your second.......that would be easier.......... You might call your local DHS office and ask for a specific phone number for Idaho Medicaid........then you will know for sure........... But it is a State by State call............Has your doctor recommended you have WLS??.........If so....maybe a referral  would seal the deal.......... You know ..WHERE THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY!!! Good Luck!!.................Leticia

I did some research and only 5 states do not have weighloss surgery coverage through medicaid. Those are Montana, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont. The restrictions and qualifying may differ by state, you need to just get the ball rolling and be in for a fight! Good Luck

Medicaid isn't the problem,right now, finding a doctor here that will use it is tuff and it's going to take a few more years before they will do it. Right now you have to go to Portland to take classes  and my doctor(Dr. Oakley, in Boise) said it is going to take some time before they start using Medicaid here. Hope this helps.
