Good Morning! At my Sleep Study in March..the tech gave me Lunesta..at 1am..she woke me up at 5 am said I was finished and I could go home!..I drove home asleep and didn't even realize it until I saw my car parked sideways in my driveway!..I was scared and MAD!!  I could have killed someone or myself!            I could have gotten a DUI!!.... I called and complained...seems the tech TOLD me see gave me a 1mg Lunesta but actually gave me a 3mg!!............She insisted I take it and said her boss would be mad it I didn't...... I refused at first but after not being able to go to sleep by 1am...I gave in......Of course  all the directions say give yourself atleast 8 hours of sleep!       She gave me what 4!!.............I am not over that yet!!..GRRR.............................Be careful with all those sleep aids!

Work like you don't need the money......

I dump real, real bad. I take xanax and when I do I get up all hours of the night eating things with sugar. And my son said when they try to take it away that I am like a rabid dog......said I squeez what ever I am eating. And one night they had to dig out a candy bar out of my mouth. I don't eat that stuff and tell them they are telling me stories. But I find the candy and food crumbs in the bed...........

I also stay with 1-2 benadryl if I want to fall asleep but can't - I did take Ambien briefly before rny (with no effects like the ones here) but now would think about banning it for myself....Thanks for the info, always good to be informed.

As a lifelong insomniac I have to say I love ambien!!  I do find that I sleep eat a lot on it, but most of the time it's the only way to get any shut eye for me.  Now - I might have other thoughts if I ever drove on it or anything else.  That is pretty scary.

WOW!  I'm sitting here with my mouth gaping open in disbelief!  I've been taking the low dose of Ambien for a few months now.  I've only had one episode of sleep/eating that I'm aware of.  I remembered doing it VAGUELY the next morning.  I had gotten up and ate a few bites of ice cream but I remember STOPPING at a few bites because I'm lactose intolerant and too much ice cream makes me sick.  I was so shocked at myself, I think it must have gone to my subconscious because I haven't done it since.  I have really bad insomnia due to menopause and the ambien will put me to sleep but I wake up frequently in the night and sometimes I can't even go back to sleep at all.  But I'm scared to take a stronger dose for the very reasons that were mentioned here.

If these things are happening to you, try a lower dosage and see if that helps!  Man, this is pretty darn scary!

You have lived the dream I used to have every time I started a strict diet!  But I do have one question, out of curiosity: How did you feel when you woke up--were you refreshed?  Wondering if your body felt the impact of what you'd done to it or was it all as if it hadn't happened at all.  In any case, gotta be one of the freakiest drugs ever.  Glad I sleep like a log since my DS.

Actually I woke up feeling like crap....really bloated and full with a really bad stomachache. My stomach was really irritated for about 2 days. Everytime I would try and eat something it would hurt and feel like it was getting stuck.

I too was prescribed ambien. Sometimes in the morning I would find dirty dishes in the sink and had no idea how they got there. The straw that broke the camels back for me happened in 2005 when I was arrested and booked with a DUI while on ambien. I have no memory of getting in my truck or even where I was going. Lucky for me another motorist reported my erratic driving and I was pulled over before I could hurt someone. What really hurt my pride and ego is that I had been clean and sober for 12 years at the time. I was able to plead down to reckless op thankfully.
