Wendy..
Oh Girl.. I could have written this post myself!!
I can sympathize with the situation, I too have a bony butt that hurts like the devil in the tub. For quite some time I would avoid the tub and just take a shower but I really wanted to enjoy my big ole garden tub and feel the relaxation of a tub bath so I decided that my best bet would be to use a towel to sit on.
I had thought about buying one of those donut cushions but was afraid it might be too slippery and if I slipped off of it while trying to wash my arse, it would hurt worse from the sudden bang on the tub floor than it would just grinding around on it.. lol
Instead, I just take a clean towel and leave it folded and use it to sit on. It's thick enough to help cushion my behind from the tub and I just unfold it and let it dry on the bottom of the tub when i'm done. Then toss it in the laundry with everything else.
As for your feet, i've not had this problem just since WLS but because i've had sensitive feet for a few years. It may just be because I don't have any carpet in my house. I have wood floors and tile throughout so there isn't any cush. I usually just use a cheap pair of flip flops in the house to give my feet a bit of soft support to protect them and it still feels like i'm walking barefoot. Otherwise, you might try diabetic socks. I haven't used them but diabetics are notorious for having sensitive feet due to neuropathies and i've had them to swear by the socks for a bit of cushioning.
I hope these tips help or that someone else might give you better advice on something to use that will work for you.

P.S. I think I'll try your towel trick before trying to find and pay for the donut thingy.

I have the same problem. I went to the dollar store & bought one of those cheap pool ring floats the kids use & it's some better. I only fill it a little over 1/2 full with air so I don't burst it. It is kinda tricky getting it under you as it IS designed to float, but once you get it under there it really helps. God Bless!!
