Taco Bell

I eat beans and cheese at home.  I don't go to fast food places -- ever.  Last time I ate at one (years ago) there was a whole new meaning to "fast" food. Linda

I have the soft taco from there and I am 9 weeks out.   I request more cheese as well.   I open up the taco, eat the meat, cheese and lettuce and throw out the soft shell.   It is yummy... I hear the pinto and beans is good as well.

Give the nutrition guide a look before you go. If you've really gotta have TacoSmell, stick with the Pintos and cheese, but don't fool yourself into thinking it's loaded down with protein. It's really not.  http://www.yum.com/nutrition/documents/tb_nutrition.pdf

I have had the pintos and cheese a few times, they taste better when I make them at home.  I have also eaten the chicken soft taco several times,  I just eat the insides.  No dumping.  Not the best choice but has worked for me in a pinch. Becka

Pintos and cheese and a side of chicken.  I mix the meat and cheese.  I can't fini****  It's a quick meal on the go when I can't get to my own kitchen.  As soon as I feel a hint of full I throw it out, so I'm not tempted to over eat.

I have the e. coli special...wait that may not be on the menu anymore...one would hope.  Seriously any  restaurant that has an e.coli outbreak pretty much loses my patronage forever...

Hubby wanted KFC tonite and I said just get me a bean burrito at the Taco Bell side.........one of those combo fast food places.......so, he gets his chicken and brings me home a bean burrito......that is what he ordered......a bean burrito.  Well, I go to break it in half to eat what I thought I could hold and they had put RICE on the bean burrito.  Geez.  Rice on burritos of any kind is just not right!!  So, I had to raid the fridge and find something I could eat...... Ok, one thing.  Fast food is one thing I got so badly dedicated to BEFORE WLS that I swore I would never eat there again. Read the nutritional ratings/info before you dine out at these places and don't get back into bad habits. One thing I promised- never to eat at McDonalds again.  Guess what, I did.  and it was NASTY.  Be careful what you put in that little pouch of yours.....wouldn't want to have to buy bigger sized clothes!!!   I can't eat rice, pasta, and those beans at TB?  What protein? Can't even eat a whole container and I'm gassing the neighborhood up Lmao!!! And the soft burrito shells?  Get stuck every time and I gag for hours.  No thanks. Stacey W

Taco Bell is really the only fast food place that I'll eat, so I've tried a number of things there.  I've had the standard pinto beans that everyone talks about.  I also have had hard and soft shell tacos, gorditas, tostadas, some chicken/rice/beans bowl and a burrito (not all at once, mind you!!).  I have had no problems with any of them. I do not appear to dump on anything, although I have not tried sugar.  I also almost entirely avoid carbs, so with the exception of the tostada, I ate almost none of the taco shell or tortilla the item came wrapped in.  I ate most of the chix bowl.  I forgot to check how far out you are from surgery before I wrote this, but I waited several months before I tried anything at all.  Tess

You said one thing that is a real red flag for me....."I've been dying to try".........well - my behaviors really did have me dying preop......I was a very sick person because of my food choices.    End of lecture...pintos and cheese - that's about it - anything with a flour or corn tortilla is a poor choice and likely to make you very uncomfortable and you may be a litte early out to try any of their stuff made from chicken or beef......nachos - horrible choice in my opinion.....too many refined carbs - and way too much fat for a not very good protein return......eat this way regulalry and you'll be posting in a few months about how disappointed you are with your weight loss......somebody does everyday here......fastfood is simply not a good choice......I would venture that we all ate it quite regularly preop...and it was a principle reason we needed to have surgery.   Susan
