OT: Registered sex offenders having yard sales!

I completely agree with you.  People see a label and demand that the person is just that label.  Society tends to forget that they are a father, mother, brother, sister, son, or daughter as well.  They are humans first not a label because of a crime that was committed.  There is always a story behind every label and it would do us good to remember that and before we burn the witch at the stake read the story.  You may be surprised!  It is always important to keep yourself and your family safe from predators but do not jump the gun!

I myself think sex offenders are the worst, and child molesters should  have ONE PARTICULAR BODY PART WACKED OFF, but you are sticking your nose where it don't belong. He is out for a reason, and causing  him trouble is wrong on your part, and what I read from another poster about putting another sign under his yard sale sign is terrible. You have no right messing with this persons life now, he has probably  paid for what he did, you have no idea what the cir****tances are with his or hers life, and to get all up into his business is just plain wrong.  I am not defending what he did, but what your doing is equally wrong. two wrongs dont make a right,  If God can forgive the the whole world, who are you to judge this person.

I have to agree and disagree.  Sadly most aprents don't involved enough in their community or even their own kids lives. We have to know where they are and watch them. Sure they have paid their price to society and have every right to go on and have as normal a life as possible. They also have to know that are going to watched at every turn. The signs may be a bit over the line I would more into limits of yard sales or go through code enforcement. It could be the guy who was 18 and was dating a 16 or 17 year old  But it could also be the guy on to Carch a predetor, better safe than sorry.

I agree with that 100%, yes we should know where they are at, but for someone to go out of their way to give the person trouble by  going to the cops to complain that they are having a yard sale, well that to me is so wrong, on so many levels. How does she know that this person has not been totally reformed and is remorseful of their act. Yes, beware, but mine your own business.  Thanks and have a wonderful day, it's Sunday, and I am off to Praise and Glorify my Lord at church. Catherine

Well said, Catherine.  Feel free to hate and judge in your own heart, but do not publicly tear this stranger down or provoke others to do likewise.  We all need to do less tearing down and more building up...myself included.

Hey Angie,   Firstly, you look amazing, secondly how are you? Just got in from church. It was a good day. Had lots of company from out of town. I totally agree with your words. It says we are to love our enemies and not judge, that is very hard to do. But with God's help it can be done. I know for a fact God has so much more work with me to do. I am not perfect and will need His help forever. By His grace.................. Take care Angie, it is always a pleasure. Hugs Catherine

What worries me more is that this same person and other's like him or worse are everywhere.  Many offenders are never identified or convicted.  Think about those parents who feel that Wal-Mart, the grocery stores and other public venues are safe for their children to roam around without supervision.  I see little ones all the time without any eyes on them.  I want to choke the parents.  Until and unless laws are changed individuals who live in the community and are released from prison or jail for any reason have the right to access the community unless restricted by the court.  It is up to each individual parent to monitor and protect their children.  I don't disagree with you at all about being concerned but rather I feel it is the responsibilty of the parents/guardians of children to be informed and to protect them.  Kat

They have a right to live their lives.  As long as the parents are with them what are you afraid of happening?  Also do you know what he did to be on the sex offender list?  Many times it has nothing to do with harming children.  Before you get worked up about it realize that a person can be put on a sex offender list for many many reasons, many of them having nothing to do with being a pedaphile.

Wow, I'm truely suprised by many of your responses.  All I did was ask the officers if it was LEGAL for this man to have a yard sale!  I did nothing illegal, I didn't expose his offenses to the community or expose him in any way.  My only concern was that he may be doing something ILLEGAL.  Once I was told that it wasn't illegal, I was done.   And I also posted that this man's victim was 13 YEARS OLD, and I didn't mention this, but he is 50 and the offense happened 2 years ago. I realize that it is each parent's responsibility to take care of their own children, but when I drove by this man's house and see a 10 year old boy in his yard, I believe it is my responsbility, as a citizen and fellow parent, to just make sure that he isn't doing anything ILLEGAL.  That's all I did.   And ya know what, as a parent, it is my ultimate responsiblity to protect my child, and if that means that I have to assume the worst about someone I don't know, as long as I'm not doing anything illegal, then I don't care if I hurt this man's feelings or assume things that may not be true.  But his victim was 13 and he was 48.  Enough said.
