Would you like to elaborate on the rolling of the eyes?

I wasn't RME at your comment mercedes...I was RME at Christy. It blows my mind sometimes that some ppl have lead such sheltered lives. The guy was trying to clear some crap out of his house by having a yard sale...plain and simple, but Christy seems to think that because he is on some list he has NO RIGHTS to do anything as innocent as a yard sale. What she fails to realize is that 90% of sex offenders are NOT on any list and that MOST sex offenders are related to their victims. This thread was bread in ignorance.

True but now people will not have an excuse to be ignorant because of this thread.

Debra - you certainly are hateful.  Apparently you can't handle healthy discussion, as I've said before, I can appreciate where those who disagree are coming from, but I'm simply respectively disagreeing.  I can do so without calling people names and being hateful.

I'm now going to end (hopefully) the thread by thanking everyoen again for their reponses and continueing to utilize the message board for help and support on my weight loss journey, and, on occasion, if I feel strongly about something off topic, I will even post again and look forward to hearing and seeing other people's views....even if they are not the same as mine.   As Mercedes said.....it never hurts to see other people's opinions, I just hope they are not as mean as Debra has been to me. Enjoy the rest of your long weekend!

Wow - talk about an intense post.  I too struggle with the concept the personal freedom that offenders deserve after serving their time and the safety needs of the public.  However, that is likely going to be a point of contention between people forever.  Interestingly, I currently have an entirely different view on sex offenders now than I did for a long time.  Thing is that I see sex offenders as very much the same as alcoholics/drug addicts.  I am VERY happy for every one of these folks who work hard and stay away from their demons.  However, I realize that it is all to easy to slip up/fall of the wagon.  But with drinking/drugs there isn't necessarily additional innocent victims being created. Finally, it is EXTREMELY frustrating to me the casualness with which many posters here refer the acceptableness of a situation with an 18 year old having sex with a 16 year old.  It is not ok!  When did we as a nation get so jaded that we have decided that it is ok for two teenagers to have sex?  There is a significant difference in maturity levels even between 16 and 18, not to mention that neither an 18 year old or a 16 year old really appreciate all the ramifications of becoming sexually active.  Also, how can we assume that this type of situation is consentual?   Are we so sure that with teens that age there is no pressure or undue influence?  Please note here - I intentionally did not specify gender with either of the ages.  Frankly, it doesn't make a difference. Thanks for bringing up the debate and for the opportunity to express my thoughts. Cathy C.
