I love speghetti so sometimes I have a tiny tiny bit.. even in soup.. it makes me feel sick!  I feel nauseous and full.  I never fealt this way before, it's always been one of my favorites.  It's like my taste buds have totally changed and I don't want the things I wanted before. Has this happened to you and what in the pasta makes me feel this way?

I am only 3 1/2 weeks out so I haven't had the opportunity to try spaghetti yet.  HOWEVER, my husband had the open procedure back in 2002 and he gets sick EVERY TIME he tries to have spaghetti.  He has trouble with pastas and meats.  I think it's different for everyone.  I have a friend who cannot eat hardly anything with any amount of sugar...she gets so sick.  My husband could eat every cookie in the house and not get sick...but a little spaghetti or red meat and he's sick.

It's so strange... rice does the same thing to me, sick.  I had some cold shrimp in fat free salad dresssing this morning and I fealt great.  maybe it's the kind of meat I wonder.. does your husband do ok with chicken or seafood?  Seafood seems to sit the best for me.

Yes.  It was the same for me.  Pasta of any kind does not sit well with me...even now that I'm almost 8 months out.

I was not allowed pasta or rice until I reach goal.  Even now at 3 years post op I don't eat it.  Way to many carbs! Pasta and rice swell in your pouch and will cause nausea and pain.

hello! if you know me, you will know that I am an openly confessed "carb junkie" I fight with my addiction everyday...lol I am over a year and half out and I can't do rice yet. If i eat pasta, say a bite or two, i become bloated, my stomach looks swollen and I feel like i have had a thanksgiving turkey dinner. I can eat pasta, it just doesn't feel good, so I don't eat much. I love potatoes though, they are my weekness.  before surgery, i was put on a carb diet, "no white foods" i was told... ummmm I only ate white foods! this surgery makes us change our eating ways, sometimes our pouch makes the rules for us, and we just go along with it. You are doing great .....!!!! Have fun on your journey... you will learn lots!!!

I am almost four years out and still have problems with spaghetti. If I eat any pasta now, I can tolerate penne pasta no problem, but spaghetti still makes me feel icky. Go figure!

Any pasta does that to me post op. I am about three and a half years post op and still can only taste it or I feel awful. Laurie

When I was about 6 months out from my surgery I had 2 small bites of my boss's spaghetti w/garlic and olive oil. It made me sick too, and I ended up throwing up 3 hours later and it was basically just the spaghetti. I don't know if it's just too hard to digest or what. I've had the same problem when I've had a few bites of white rice. In fact I just threw up from 2 bites of white rice yesterday.  No more of either for me!
