Makes me sick everytime!! I do not even try it anymore. If you must have it, try making it with angel hair pasta instead. Pasta and I just do not get along anymore!

when you're wanting spaghetti, try spaghetti squash... I used that instead of pasta and it tastes great with sauce on it... poke holes in it place in a bowel, cover with plastic wrap and nuke for around 3 mins or less depends on how big the squash is...  cut in half length wise and use fork to scrap out the insides into strands.... good luck Stephie

The only time I have problems with spaghetti is when restaurants and other spaghetti feeds plop down an entire dinner-plate-load of it (those plates are about 10 inches in diameter).  Although I'm MO, I really cannot eat a whole plate-full of spaghetti in one sitting and always have to take it home in a people bag to be eaten the next day.   I really prefer to order other Italian foods, such as lasagna or chicken or seafood, from Italian restaurant menus.  I even ate a parmesan cheese-crusted tilapia served over angel hair pasta at an Italian restaurant a few months ago and it was delicious and very light.  I find that when protein is included with pasta, the pasta is more tolerable. I think that the main reason post-WLS people would have problems with eating spaghetti or other pasta is that they don't include enough additional protein or any protein at all.  Plus, pasta made from refined flour is classifed as refined carbs, rather than complex carbs.

I am one year post-op and cannot eat pasta except for just one small bite.  It was my absolute favorite before so maybe this is God's way of keeping me away from it.  It is one of the only things that makes me sick!  I can eat sugar with no problem, darn it.  The only other thing that makes me as sick as pasta is fried foods.  I have met some people who cannot eat any sugar at all but can eat all the pasta they want so I guess each individual body is different.  Ihad RNY.

I've tried the angel hair pasta and it does NOT sit well at all.  In fact, any pasta makes me feel YUCK! Tanya
