Hi Everyone.   Has anyone's hair turned curly after surgery?  Mine did!! It was curly as a child.  Then went stright.  I got perms for over 20 yr's. Then I had the bypass in 2003, and it started coming in curly.   I love it. It is wash and wear,  ringlets if I let it. LOL  It is from the anesthesia. My name is Tena,  I was on here four yr's ago when I was going through my surgery, I lost 100 #.   Have kept all off except 15 - 17 #.  Still need to lose at least 40 to 60.  Pouch is still about 1/2 to 3/4 cup.  Problen is I graze, and it isn't on veggies.  T hat is Y I am on here.  Hope to get to know you, to help you if I can and receive some help.  Enjoy reading about all of you.  I am about 30 miles from Cincy OH. , but from the country. Yall have a good evening. Tena

YES!!! Mine did! IT ranges anywhere from frizzy to ringlets on any given day depending on humidity. I CAN still get it pretty straight and smooth with a little extra work. The funny thing is that my hair newfound curliness totally caught me by suprise. I had no clue it was even curly at all! One day I was looking back at some pics of a recent vacation in a very tropical and humid place. I could tell it was curly around my face. The tendirils peeking out of my ponytail were ringlets! I was like what the heck...then I let it dry naturally and what do you know...curls!  I was shocked and kind a freaked out but now I love it. I can have very big hair to match my personality! Molly

Hi Tena..........OMG, I thought I was the only one. My hair was very fine and straight before surgery. Now it is so curly. But unlike you, I hate it. I don't even look like myself. I have lost 100# in 11 months. You made my day just knowing I'm not alone with the hair thing...Good luck with the weight loss. I know, I'm a grazer too...........Paula

I've heard of this happening, sometimes after a shock like a car accident of stuff like that, but I never thought of WLS as a shock, but why not, we do lose our hair during the rapid weight loss phase. My hair stayed straight... too bad for me! It's refreshing to have someone who's a few years out admit right out that snacking is the problem. Ah, if food tasted nasty maybe!

While I was editing the hair thing, I was getting answers. LOL         I don't know if any of you know it, but I was told my hair came in curly because of the anesthesia.

Yep, it even happens to guys.  I thought that I had just slept on it crooked or something, but it won't go away.  I kind of like it, the Tom Seleck look you know.  My hair was curly on the sides as a kid, but that went away.  It sure beats the alternative they said could happen,  BALD.............. I am out 9 months and down 125.  That is just one more benifit from the WLS, one of many!   Paul

Having had very curly hair all my life, I was praying for straighter hair--didn't get it though.  When my teen daughter had cancer and lost all her curly locks, she prayed that when it grew back, please God, couldn't it be straight. Nope, curly as ever.  The very day I was getting my hair cut off when I was going through the hair loss part of my journey, a new mother came in and was asking what they could do for her.  Her hair had always been straight, but now about the lower 1/3 was growing in very, very curly.  It was the oddest thing I'd ever seen.   Ann

Was it me you saw?  I thought I was the only one!  After having kids, I went from straight and blonde to dark and only partially curly.  The hair on top of my head and in the front is straight, the back and underneath is very curly.  Pain in the @$$!!!!
