I think this situation gives me a better understanding of managed health care.  Get a blind physician, present him with a document filled in by an agent that only reads every 3rd word from the pcp, run it thru the longest way possible and then deny the procedure citing a totally aberrant factoid!  Gee, makes you feel really safe in the hands of insurance.  Go get 'em!

oh dear sarah, what is this crazy medical system coming to? not only you but our poor little 'i_ride_my_harley' too. it's all so frustrating. not only for you and her but all of us, your fellow friends and members, trying to reason this all out. why are you having to go thru all of this 'poop'? nothing makes any sense. love, mardi

I may be new around here, but I say we do a girls trip, meet in Pittsburgh and hold a rally outside the building. I need a trip away from here, and this is a great cause! We've got your back!

I am with that first poster......Can you not hire a lawyer to MAKE the cover the procedures?? or  Ask if YOU can appear before the review board...and then they can SEE what you need.  Keep fighting...we are ALL on your team!!!                                 NEVER NEVER NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!!!

Work like you don't need the money......

Sarah, I've been following all of your posts on this issue. I can so relate to your issues, though yours are much more grievous than mine. I hope you are able to give em bat-wing-slaps upside the head!

Sometimes I think those doctors have a standard reply list for various appeals. You know, like the ones they give telemarketers? They just fill in the blanks to fit the person's specifics and go from there. Once they see you face to face it will be a whole lot different. Then you can point out the reasons for yourself. Keep up the fight. And from the sounds of things they better watch their tires.

Forgive my ignorance, but do you have skin rashes, ulcers or cellulitis?  I don't understand what they mean by no rare case was presented.  Surely your lyphedema is a unique case if not a rare one.  Good luck, Loris
