It sounds to me like you need to speak with a therapist... IMO there seems to be more going on... almost like self sabotage/self destructive behavior. It is overwhelming the amount of time and attention we have to give ourselves when we are newly post-op... it has to be even harder with children. My frist suggestion is to get back to the surgeon... get your bloodwork done and address you vitamins/nutritional issues with him. Perhaps hearing more about the negative effects of not following his orders will help to put things in a better perspective. They can also perhaps reccomend somebody you can speak with.

SMACK!!!!  OK, so you can't change what you've done wrong- but you CAN make it better going forward, right?  The key is in planning ahead, I have found.  I think that some pre-planning on your part of what you will eat for the day will be helpful.  That and re-dedicating yourself, and not hateing yourself for making mistakes will do wonders.

BUT- here's one thing I'm not letting you off the hook for- YOU NEED TO TAKE YOUR SUPPLEMENTS.  I dont like them is NOT an acceptable excuse.  you have to do it- so get to it- or you WILL suffer the consequences, and they will be serious sooner or later.  You have kids- right?  So you need to dedicate yourself to doing it for THEM.  They need a healthy mommy, and you can set a good example for them too.

Best,

You asked if anyone can help…..Yes, you can help yourself by sticking to your appointments, having your blood work done, taking your vitamins and keeping trigger food out of your home. I may sound harsh but this wasn't a quick fix that takes all of your food issues away. You just had surgery in July right? And you've already tested yourself with sugar are unhealthy carbs? Why would you do that?

Personally the entire first year I never touched unhealthy carbs or anything that was sugar laden. I am 2 1/2 yrs out now and I rarely do now. I have lost 173lbs. I am at the point now I do have a bite here or there….NOTHING on a normaly daily basis. But everything in moderation. You have to find a way to deal with your food demons, find out your triggers, seek counseling.

Like I said I might sound harsh but I have had several people, family and friends that's had the same surgery I did and have sabotoged themselves. Then I hear them blame it on everything but the fact they are eating donuts and chocolate milk. Which Burns my ass! They had the same chance I did and didn't use this tool properly.

So please help yourself, use this tool the way it's intended. I want all of us to succeed in this journey!

Hugs,

Lisa

Sarah, I also give you credit for your honesty.  I am scared to death that I can handle sugar so I made a promise to myself I would treat sugar and fried foods like poison and never let them cross my mouth.   Do you have access to a therapist?  I think it would be a very good use of your time.  For PMS, Fish Oil has worked wonders for me.  Prior to my surgery, I CRAVED chocolate like crazy 2 days before and during my period.  Someone told me Fish Oil (Omega 3) would help with the cramps since I can only take Tylenol and for some reason it appears to help w/ my cravings too. Good luck and be good to yourself!
