I have regular cable right now and want to make a switch. I am primarily looking at either DirectTV or DishNetwork. Let me know your experiences with either, if you prefer one over the other, and why? Thanks!

I've only had DirecTv, for about eight years now, and I love it.  I have a friend who has Dish Network and she hates it.  I think it's just a service issue.  I've never had a problem with DirecTv. Linda

I love my Dish Network. I inquired about Direct TV and their dual reciever gets the same channel in 2 different rooms, but with Dish, you can watch 2 different channels in 2 different rooms. IMHO Dish is better.

Hi,  just wanted to added to this.  I have a mutiple receiver with Direct TV box in three rooms and we watch different channels.  Is this the same as what your talking about? Thanks, Kim

We have had Direct TV for years. We had dish network once several years ago (right before we got direct) and hated it. We could not get local networks, had fewer chanels and the service was poor. Everytime the wind woudl blow, we would lose reception. We are very please with Direct, our bill has not gone up once for as many years as we have had.

We have dish and love it. We've never had any problems with them what so ever.  My bill never changes unless we rent a movie. and the DVR is awesome. I love being able to watch one show and record another, and being able to rewind a live program. Good luck on your choice.

I love Dish Network, but we werelosing the signal because it's too low on the horizon for us.  We recently switched to Direct TV and I hate it! One of my favorite channels (E! Entertainment) is listed on all their brochures, but is not available in our package.  We are paying  almost $20 more a month and the only thing extra we got is a bunchof crappy shopping networks, more news channels than I care to EVER watch, and so many Christian channels that even by writing this nasty message, I'll be saved from hell just because I have 9 channels to choose from!

We've been Direct TV for 8 years now.  If you are a pro football fan, it's the only one where you can get all the NFL games for the season for an additional charge.  They have the most HD channels of anyone out there right now too.  Our service is about $50 a month.  Well worth it.  We also have 3 receivers so we can watch whatever we want in any room.

We have DirectTV and love it.  My sister-in-law had DishNetwork though and she likes hers as well.  I love the line-up we have and we can also order a channel a la carte if it's not part of a package.  For example, The Outdoor Channel, is considered an a la carte channel for us.  We pay about $70 per month - but we also have four tvs.  We just recently got HughesNet satellite internet , which is part of DirectTV.  I've been at work a lot and haven't got to use it, but my husband and daughter love it.  Good luck. I want to jump in here I had Dish Network and like everyone says when the wind blows you lose reception for a period of time. I then switched to Direct TV (have 4 TV's in house) and we all watch different channels and Dish Network owed me a credit of $65 - that's been 4 years ago NEVER got it. They kept transferring me to INDIA where their customer service center is and they only speak enough English to get by and did not understand the difference between a credit card, debit card or check. Kept getting different answers as to where my credit was....so needless to say every time Dish Network calls I tell them very nicely I might talk (not really) if they send me back my $65 + interest, that usually shuts them up!!
