Lexapro question

I started taking Lexapro about 2 months ago.  My doc gave me samples until we got the dose right.  Then he called in a script for me.  I just noticed on the bottle that it says to take at bedtime.  I have never taking depression meds at bedtime.  Is this something new?  Or is it just Lexapro?  Does anyone know what benefits it has?   Thanks

Probably recommending taking Lexapro at bedtime would be so you could rest better, it may have a tendency to make some people sleepy during the day. 

Hey, I take lexapro and I take it at night because it makes me sleepy. I have been taking it for a few years now. I wasnt instructed to take it at night it just said to take it daily; I decided to take it at night because it made me so tired during the day that I couldnt do anything, but yawn. 

I take Lexapro in the morning ... Doesn't make me sleepy.  I abolutely love this medication!!!  It has done wonders for me. Annette

I've been on Lexapro in the past and it just said daily, but the doc said if I found myself being drowsy to take it at night. Now, I'm on Zoloft and it says take at night but I don't and it doesn't seem to bother me, but I guess it does some people.

I take mine first thing in the morning and now I understand why some days I can hardly keep my eyes opened,  I just thought it was PMS....I will switch to pm.  But I didn't remember feeling this sleepy when I first started taking it a few months ago.  This helped me through a really rough spell and I think it's just great!   Good Luck!

My Dr calls Lexapro the new vitamin L....I love this drug its helped me in so many ways. I usually take mine at dinner time cause it affects my Birth conrol in the mornings. Its never made me sleepy though.

I take it,  i took it at bedtime in the beginning because at first i was a little tired from it.  I take it every morning now with my vitamins and i have no issues with it at all. I only take 10 MG and occassionally i'll do 15 if i am really stressed. I wanted to chime in with those who said this drug is amazing, it changed my life!  I have been on it for about a year and now they are considering taking me off Brenda

I love my lexapro too!  And I wasn't told anything about taking it at night.  Interesting.  Taking it in the morning hasn't been a bad thing for me.   Janice

I have been SO tired during the day and no energy.  NOW I know why....  I started taking it last night and I have not felt as tired today.  I had my first set of labs drawn on Friday and I thought I might have been lacking something because I was so tired.  I guess I should read the bottle before taking the meds.  Have a great day!  Thanks for sharing.  I'm on 20mg per day and I love it.
