No, if it helps you, I'd go for it. It would be a supportive group--even though you've had surgery, some people still have problems eating a proper diet. If you think it would help, I'd do it. Some patients need help anywhere they can get it. I find I need to go to 2-3 bariatric support groups monthly. This helps me stay on track. I went to one local meeting a month for 7 months post op. and then stopped for 3 months. I gained 20 pounds in that 3 months. Since I went back to meetings, I lost those 20 pounds plus another 17 or so to my present weight.

Wow, thats amazing how a support group can really help a person. The hospital I had my surgery with has support group with all the teens they have done surgery on but its only 3 or 4 times a year. and i usually can make it because its 1 1/2 hours away!

Check on this site or do a search on the Internet for a support group near your county, city, zip code, etc. My surgeon has 4 groups per month, about 40 miles apart. I found another one through OH, that was about 30 miles from my home that I went to last weekend.

Hello :-) its good to see you again to be honest , i have joined Weigh****chers 2 weeks ago i have a few pounds that i like to get off as well. i did not tell Weigh****chers that i had WLS. its none of their business. I weigh in every SAT morning and then sit in their meetings. listening and hearing everyone's story and get diet tips ...etc.... This is helping me a lot. I am actually EATING the same way on weigh****chers. although NOW being on weigh****chers.... I am REALLY focusing and concentrating on my intake and my calories burned each day. i am writing my intake down in the Weigh****chers book So i know EXACTLY what I am eating.....and how much. PLUS i am eating the amount of calories i should be eating on Weigh****chers. I make sure that i do not go over my point allowance for the day. i make sure i exercise everyday and burn off my calories. over all it is a perfect program for us who had WLS who wants to get off their LAST couple of pounds. So to be honest with you.... this is NOT weird at all. I already lost 5 pounds so far being on Weigh****chers :-) and 2 lbs on my own before joining ww... So ....i say go for it girl.... lol just do not tell everyone you HAD WLS its none of their business. OH .....One more thing....about WW. I am on the FLEX program.. which allows you to eat bread... on the CORE program............ it is alittle harder program. just so you know, but the leader will go over everything with you. IF you work the Weigh****chers program AND WORK YOUR WLS TOOL you will START TO LOSE WEIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!   good luck to you :-) hugss Lizzy

I had started going when I was 7 months out....went for extra support....I became a lifetime member several years ago so I just had to pay for my initial visit.   I pretty much stay within their program...sometimes I find I just need the extra support and it does help.  I didn't tell anyone I had WLS, it was non of their business...however not to long ago I ran into a leader that I loved from several years ago.  We talked quite a bit and I told her what I did.  She said she was starting another meeting (she stopped doing meetings so she could work on her degree) and would love to have me join in again...if the need arises I will go back.  With my tool it is real easy for me to stay focused on eating properly but every now and then I do need the support.  And like she told me it doesn't really matter how you lost the weight it is keeping it off that is important... So to answer your question no it is not weird.....WW is not a diet but food plan that is healthy and that is what it is all about.

As their new commercials say, it's not a diet, it's about learning a healthy way of eating.  If you've having trouble on your own, it's a wonderful program.  I'd go for it.  There's nothing like group support. Linda
