Too fat to fit in 1 chair!
Vicki,
I was just on vacation with my family in Washington DC. We stayed in a nice hotel. But I broke the toilet seat. Just by sitting on it. They came right away to fix it, but that makes the 2nd toilet seat I've broken. Sometimes when I sit on a regular chair, I'm afraid I'll break IT too.
So, you're not alone. Just wanted to send a hug...
God bless you!
Barb
You are doing the right thing for your health and self-respect.
I was working at a rather well know brokerage firm and one of the brokers I was working for was talking about me in the elevator with a bunch of people on there, and someone who knew me was also on the elevator. Well he proceeded to tell the guy he was talking to "how could anymore make love to a woman as big as Debbie"?. When my friend told me that my heart was broke because one of my other brokers had just told me that I was so large I could not get out of my chair fast enough if he called me.
Needless to say I guit that job shortly after that and got a job that paid for the lapband and now I have lost 155 lbs. I went back down there about 3 months ago to talk to these jokers. I told them "THANK YOU" if you had not been so rude and crass I would not have gotten off my A$$ and had this done. You should have seen the look on their face!! It was priceless!! By the way I am a size 6 now from a size 24.
Good luck and I hope this helps you!!
I know how you feel I have been to events where I had to stand also. My poor boys when they were little it was not a problem for them. It was after they got older and people would say stuff to them about fat people. I missed a lot of their functions after they got into Jr. High. I felt that I did not want them to have to listen to the hateful and hurtful words that others say with out the thought of using their brains.
What a pain in the Butt, the bigger pain for me is that I have IBS super bad and those stalls in the bath rooms are the worst. You would figure with all the newer staddiums and theaters that they are building that they would inclued larger stalls for us. Not. I mean more than half of america is now obese, right... That is why I know for all of us that are still hoping and waiting for sugery that it will all be worth the pain.
This type of situation freaks me out. Whenever I buy tickets to an event, I will always reserve an isle seat. That way I don't have to sit next to a stranger. My family sits next to me and we're used to being cozy.
I have one child and it works well with travel. I always get the window seat. I spill into the middle seat, but it's just my son and my husband gets the isle. I don't even think my husband knows why I always want the window seat. He thinks it's because of the view.
I hope you don't stop going to events because of what happened. Try the isle, I know it will make you feel more comfortable. By the way, I hope you still were able to enjoy yourself.

I'm going to do a "Gone With The Wind" impression. "As God is my witness I'll never have to use two chairs again!" I promise you, you will fit in one chair after the surgery. I use to test every chair before I sat down to see if it was sturdy enough, I wouldn't set on "butt-eating" couches because I couldn't get out unless I rolled out, pray to God everytime I flew that I would get a skinny person beside me so that I wouldn't blub over on them, and on and on! Last weekend I went to the movie with my family and always sat in the double chair for MO people and didn't even think about it this time. Sat down and realized that I'm a whole lot closer to the 21 inches that engineers use to figure out the seat capacity of a place. And my tailbone hurt from sitting at the movie too long. I didn't even know that I had a tailbone!!! LOL!!! So many of us have been, there done that and TG you won't have to very much longer.
Good luck!

Vicki,
I own my own business and when I purchased chairs for the waiting room, I only shopped for chairs without arms and chairs that weren't attached at the leg. I wanted my clients to be able to sit without the fear of getting stuck or spilling into someone elses space. I am three months out from surgery and would do it again in a heartbeat. Your turn is coming so soon. I wish you the best on this amazing journey. Cindy
I feel for you. I remember the last time I rode a ride at the fair. I had planned to ride rides all night but I had gotten on a ride and they had to push the bar on to my lap it hurt so bad it was pinching the whole time. I got this huge bruise I left right away I could not believe that happened to me. It sucked so bad.
I have also had similar things happen to me.. but if your not overweight... people just would not understand!!! Surgery will forever change your life.... I think you will soon after be wondering why you didnt do it sooner??? I waited at least four years to have surgery because I was scared... and made excuses.. but It was the BEST thing I could of ever done for myself!!! Just keep a positive attitude.. let all the great people at OH... give your courage and confidence and pray to god.. he will give you strength! Good Luck!
It's oh so worth it ! I would do it again in a heartbeat. I remember being in a training room at work with these wooden chairs with sides about 2 years ago. I was in the room all day and at the end of the day my thighs had bruises and lines from the chairs. About a week ago I was in that same room and I glanced down and realized my legs do not even touch the sides of those same chairs now. I never have to worry about fitting into things, airplane seats, being concerned about new restaurants or events. Everything fits now with 210 pounds gone.
Good luck!
