OT: Womens Clothing styles

I am not sure what to think about the new womens fashions  and young girls wearing these styles. I am mainly talking about the "tunic tops" "peasant tops" When I was a young teen and a young adult,a  middle aged women if you wore that style you were most certainly overweight or obese and couldnt find anything else to wear. Now it seems that is all the fashion now. What I have decided for myself is: I am rebelling against what Hollywood says is fashionable. I refuse to dress that way and will stick with my old classic  styles that never go out of style. Anyone with me on that? SophiaMaria

LOL well, I wore tunics and peasant tops when they weren't in fashion (when I was 16 and such in the 80s) and before I was obese...I am a hippie at heart, so it kind of suits me! I still wear them, I don't care about what's in style, I care about what I like :-)

I with you, I've been known to wear a peasant top or two back in the day (and now).

I have to admit, I'm more into fashion trends since I made the decision to get my WSL done.  I also spend more time on the clothes & items I already have (ironing more, shining shoes, polishing jewelry, etc.)  & grooming (hair, makeup, skin care, dental care, etc.).

I guess I'm trying to reinvent myself, trying to get away from that MOM look and recapture the old school me.

I'm with you all the way.  The loose, empire style tunic tops remind me of my maternity wear back in the day.  And what cracks me up is that current maternity clothes are so skin tight they'd reveal a "baby bump" even if you were only five minutes pregnant LOL!

I did forget to mention that the tops remind me of maternity wear. I do remember being pregnant and how those tunics and peasant tops made me look even bigger, when I was almost ready to deliver my son I was  167 pounds. I'm  bigger than that now, but not by much. I know some tops look like there is just a basketball pressed to your front.

I am going to rock whatever I wear and I am wearing it to please me - forget Hollywood and everyone else and trust this sista is not about to wear anything loose these days - I work too hard to have the body I have at 13 months out.  I remember a woman had the audacity to ask me how far along I was a few months prior to my WLS and I told her 15 months I was having a colt - she really ticked me off and we were in an elevator full of people to make matters worse - the assumption that I was with child just because of my obesity.  So I basically mix, match, coordinate and uncoordinate and have a fabulous wardrobe all of my own (lol) don't ask me if it is fashionable or not - I am just loving it (lol) and no tunic tops or peasant tops for me either!!!

Sophie, I think you should wear what makes you happy!  I love those tunics on the hanger but when I try them on I look 4X as big and my boobs are huge in them...so, alas, I can't wear them.  But I have seen girls who look really nice in them and are not skinny-minnie.  So whatever works for you!

I am definitely not a fan of the tunic tops. I have never cared what hollywood said is fashion. I wear what I like. What looks good on me, and what is comfortable. and thats the end of it. =)

Bah, Hollywood doesn't have a say anyway, it's Paris and Milan (and NYC), baby!  The sad thing is, here in Western New York, current fashion hits about 6-12 months after the fact.  The nearest place for me to get the good stuff is in Toronto.  Now, if they just made it in my size and for 1/4 the price.

:::pout:::
