Beverly Simmons passed 10/29/03
A dear friend of many, Beverly Simmons (Beverly Lynn) passed away this past Wednesday. She had surgery on 7/22/03 and she mentioned this board as a source of help and guidance for her.
I am not a member here but I know Beverly Lynn had "friends" on many internet BB's, that's how I got to know her myself. One of her closest friends is on her way to BL's services and spoke to BL's parents...
"Thanks for your Good Thoughts - I'm devastated, completely beyond comprehension that she is gone....... But she definately is.....
I talked to her Mom this morning. They are not attributing her death to the GBS, but I know in my Heart, that it was. As Kathy said, she was having alot of pain in her ankle & was taking Darvocet for it. She was also taking tylenol on & off for run of the mill headaches. The docs said her body wasn't clearing the drugs & that her liver "exploded" (that is what her Mom said the doctors said)
Her Mom found her unconscious on Tues., when she brought Aryn home from school & the paramedics tried to revive her. She had hardly any pulse, but they got her somewhat revived & to the hospital. They weren't able to get her a liver transplnt because she had been gone so long, they didn't know how much brain activity was left.... She passed on Weds. afternoon, after a brief glimmer of hoope on Wed morning. She was not conscious from the time her Mom found her til her death & I can only Hope & Pray that it was very sudden & that she didn't lay suffering, alone..... That's all I can think of..... I just don't want for her to have suffered..."
BL often posted on a Disney community board and there are a few lovely tribute threads on that site in her memory

I hope it's OK to post this here.
From the Pittsburgh, PA Tribune online:
"Beverly L. (Nitkiewicz) Simmons, 38, of Lawrenceville died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003. Wife of Daniel Simmons. Mother of Aryn Simmons. Beloved daughter of Richard "Cookie" and Josie (Marmo) Nitkiewicz. Sister of Rick Nitkiewicz. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th St., Lawrenceville. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Family Church, Our Lady of the Angels Parish"
I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of Beverly. I appreciate the post telling us of the passing, but I implore our pre ops to take the conclusion of the poster that this was due to WLS as only her opinion. Many do not understand our surgery and draw erroneous conclusions not necessarily based on facts.
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend!!
Why are you so sure it was attributed to her WLS?Could it just have been a liver problem as a result of so many drugs?Maybe this could have happened anyway? What do the docs say? Did she have liver probs before?
Thanks,
