I get the distinct impression that Dr. Phil is morphing into a Jerry Springer. Want evidence of that? I've copied below a promo from one of his shows, which will be taped in a couple of weeks. When I read it, my bottom jaw hit the floor. Just wondering: Do participants get a discount on Dr. Phil's book and diet products. SNORT. Here's the scoop (of you-know-what): "Someone You Know Need a FAT INTERVENTION? Are you concerned that someone close to you is becoming EXTREMELY overweight? Does this person not even acknowledge that they might have a problem? Do you fear their health is in danger and if nothing is done they may face severe consequences? In a couple weeks, the Dr. Phil show will be staging a "Fat Intervention". If you know an extremely overweight person *****fuses help, please email us your story. Help Dr. Phil knock some sense into them!" Lo, how the mighty have fallen....

I'm sure the more ads I see for his Shape Up bars and products, the more Fat themes we'll see on his show. I used to think Dr. Phil was pretty cool... but now he is just boring

I have been overweight all of my life and I never considered it a problem until it affected my health. So there I was in high school weighing 350 and no I did not think "I had a problem". To me others had problems with my weight but I was doing fine. I also was blind to how my weight was contributing to others issues in my life. Not that I'm completely on Dr. Phil's side...but his bars do taste pretty good and have 6 grams of fiber which most other bars I found have none...and a portion of the profits goes to research obesity in children.

Sarah--stick to the Atkins bars--less sugar, same amount of fiber, and no Dr. Phil to make a profit.

A FAT INTERVENTION??? I can't believe this guy. I'm afraid to see what's next. This man has some nerve.

When Dr. Phil first started on Oprah and when his own program first started (even though he was pretty awkward) I liked him. I really liked when he would get into some parent's face about what their out of control behavior (screaming, arguing, etc.) was doing to the kids. I liked when the camera's would go out to the family's house and record all the great footage. Now, that was reality TV. But, now he's just another fad diet huckster making big bucks off of the misery and despiration of others. I have no doubt that the 13 people in the "challenge" will lose weight while the lights are on, the camera's are rolling and Dr. Phil is doing one-on-one therapy with them. But, let the camera crew pack-up and leave and let Dr. Phil move on to another pet project and I'll bet that 12 out of 13 will put the weight back on within 2 years, plus some more. And, I don't see any evidence that he has helped The Dysfunctional Family at all. I wouldn't give you a nickle for mom, dad or the 15 year old unwed mother. It's the 13 yo that I admire and she wants OUT of the family! I don't think the husband and wife will stay together. Then it will be the mom and the 15yo raising the baby. And I hear Dr Phil has another family on the west coast lined up to take this family's place. I guess I'm surprised that Dr. Phil got so far off track and has turned into (as someone else said) a Jerry Springer. His greed shows more than his desire to help others.

Check out how many carbs are in those bars...I think it's like 30. Also, what ingredient is listed first?? Sugar? Dr. Phil is ripping people off. Any professional that has any knowledge about weight loss knows that very few will have sucess on his plan and the hundreds of similiar plans. Dr. Phil is standing on a soap box and he has crossed a line that I don't think he will recover from quickly!!

I also use to really dig Dr. Phil, now he just ****** me off all the time. He's doing this weight loss challange thingie on his show, and some ppl are taking weight off, but what I want is for him to do is follow WLS ppl too and do an update show on these ppl that are HIS program in like 2-3 years and see which group had the most success....hhmmmm doesn't take a genius to figure that one out!! I'm willing to bet BIG money that all these ppl following his program gain all the weight back and then some (just like EVERY other diet that has been tried!!) But I bet he doesn't have the nuts to do that, cuz then he will be exposed and HAVE to admit that WLS is a good thing!!

Someone gave me a "Fat Intervention" every single day of my life! Whether it was my own dad being embarrassed of me, my mom telling me I didn't look good, kids making fun of me at school, not fitting into clothes, turnstiles, airplane seats, movie seats. I was very aware. Yeah Dr. Phil, I've got your intervention right here.
