Does Anyone Get Tonsil Stones Now Since Surgery?

I know that sounds weird, but I have been getting these annoying, off white bumps on my tonsils. So I looked them up online and they are referred to as "tonsil Stones". They are rather gross and make your breath smell retched! I usually end up having to stick my finger back there and scrape them off my tonsils because I can feel them scraping up against the backside of my tongue. I choke and gag and sometimes they come out if I cough hard enough or make that noise like I am scratching the back of my throat. I never had a problem with these until after surgery. Could it be that I get them more often from an over abundance of a certain vitamin or a lack thereof??  From what I read they are basically just little bags of food and mucus caught in the craters of the tonsils and they get lodged in there. I have tried gargling peroxide and other things to basically keep my mouth really clean, nothing works. Anyone have these and what do you do for them?
I know, this topic is disgusting!! Sorry

I used to get those all the time! I haven't had them at all in the past 2-3 years though. Always wondered what they were. They are quite annoying. Using your finger to get rid of them then gagging and such. Not sure what you'd do to get rid of it though. Mine just all of the sudden stopped.

i have done MUCH research on this subject

i USED to get them Pre surgery like CRAZY... they intensify if you tend to eat a lot of lactose base products. Try cutting down if you DO have a lot of that

We get craters in our tonsils from things like Strep throat or other sickeness.. that was the case with me.. iwould get strep 4-5 times a year maybe more!!

then these started developing and it would MORTIFY me to no end... you cant do much about them though.. if they are bad to the point you are gettin it all the time.. the dentist can remove with this suction gadget.. although i never went i read about it..

after surgery though they stopped for me. thank god! it is more common then you think!

I WILL remain POSITIVE and  by such thought---it SHALL be!

You are merely irritating them by scraping them off.  Try a solution of sal****er to gargle with on a regular basis.  It should get rid of them.

not much you can do

i get them although not lately

and both my sons now get them ( they are adults)

oh joy

maybe they will  just stop one day.  i had always gotten them in cycles, im on an off cycle now.

hugs, jacki

p.s i have done research also, and as long as you remove then carefully without scraping your throat, there is no harm in doing that, cause they are stinky.

When I was young I used to get strep throat and tonsilitis all the time. I don't actually scrape them its more of a push, if I scrape I cut my tonsils with my nails so I try very hard to be careful. I did a bunch of reading on it, never seen the part on the lactose and the only thing I can think of that I would consume regarding that is cheese. Soo, maybe that is contributing to them. never tried the sal****er but I will and will let you know if it works!! Thanks

I have them also.  The weird thing for me is when I was taking antibiotics for Lymes Disease for 1 1/2 years, I didn't have any.  Within 6 weeks of stopping the antibiotics they came back!
They are truely gross.  To dislodge them, I take a large paper clip and unwind it except for the small tip and use that small tip to scrap them off my tonsils.  Its gross I know, its probably not safe, sterile or anything good but its what I do to get rid of them because they make your breath stink!!

The doctor used to give me antibiotics to treat them. After 5 rounds in a year, we decided to go ahead and have my tonsils removed. I had them removed at the end of April. Much harder to recover from than RNY. But well worth it. I suggest you see an ENT doctor if they keep coming back.

Wondering if you're feeling normal?? I blog about everything!! Check my page out for more!
