well, its a lifestyle change, not a diet.. so therefore some people eat icecream once in a while..  I had some this summer, maybe 1/2 scoop or so, and it satisfied me...

lose skin.... yup, You will have some.. but let me tell You, the weightloss will soo make up for that!! as far as the stretch marks go.. well, they are witness that my body was able to give life to 3 wonderful children! I feel blessed. Karin

Remember .... not everyone after RNY has dumping syndrome.  About 40% of people do.  Which means that 60% of people don't dump at all... or only in extreme conditions.  Some people dump on sugar, some people dump on sugar alcohols, some people dump on fats or carbs.  The key to being successful is letting the "FEAR" of dumping dictate your eating choices.  It's best not to test the waters to find out if you're in the 40% or the 60% group.  Just assume you're part of the dumping group ...

I am 61 years old and had wls almost 8 months ago and I do have a lot of loose skin.  I was most concerned about my face, but that is fortunately ok, just under my chin is the only loose skin there.  I was very concerned about that before my surgery.  Like the others on here, I would much rather have the loose skin than the fat!  I feel so much better, and have so much more energy than I had before!

About ice cream....that is something I have loved my entire life and I know that is a big part of the reason that I got to be 100 pounds overweight....so I decided never to eat it again.  Coldstone makes a sugar free, fat free ice cream and it is very good....I get it mixed with nuts.  I also make the protein ice cream mentioned above and it is totally satisfying!

Good luck!

At a little over 6 1/2 years I dump on bread milk that you drink and sugar, but I do eat low carb ice cream.  Not much, but sometimes.  You will be on a honeymoon at first and lose weight no matter what you eat( at least most do) , but beware even if you can eat these things and get away with it at first, latter you will gain weight if you keep on eating what you should not.( most do anyway)  Remember surgry is not the cure all you got to work at it.  I say work it and work hard your first 2 years cause it gets harder to lose weight after that.  Haveing said that I would repeat my RNY in a heart beat.  Cheryl.
