It's the wrong kind of calcium.  You need to be taking Calcium Citrate.  That calcium is Calcium Carbonate which we can't absorb.

Hello,

Use the below link and read through.  There is some really great information in this thread on Tums, etc.

No.

I sincerely hope it was not someone of the medical persuasion.  If it was, they are a freaking moron (I'm actually being nice.  I'd like to use a different phrase here.  Those who know me already know what that pharase is.)

Read that link above.  It explains things pretty well, IMHO (especially since I was the OP of that post...)

Unfortunately we hear lots of things after aving WLS.  Many feel they are helping us by "telling us what they know or have heard" but in reality there is lots of mis-information out there.  Please do not just take what you hear at face value, continue to ask quesitons.  Good luck in your journey.

I don't know if you happen to have a problem with reflux but if you do, TUMS will make it 10x worse.  TUMS help with immediate acid but it makes you produce another chemical, Peptin, that causes a rebound acid affect.

But I'm pretty sure you should be taking Calcium Citrate.
