Seriously.... Are you kidding me? Is a vitamin a vitamin.... Nope, they are not ....

A-N-D-R-E-A.... good luck. I hope you don't get a migraine from all of the stupidity.

Is there a history that isn't apparent here?

Pretty much.  Asked several vitamin questions over the past several hours, and either:

1) Didn't read the responses
2) Didn't like what they heard in said responses

So.. here's the complete posting history.. keep the dates and times in mind:

Whow i didn't mean to start a blog war about flintstone vitamins. all i asked was how many you need to take to compare to the bariatric brand. if you read the flintstomes label they don't have the same as the bariatric, but vitamin A,C,E,and etc are the same no matter what the brand so why not just take more Back to the top Reply to This Post Quote Post Report Post

I will bend over backwards to help someone.. who actually is willing to listen, garner info (whether they use it or not), listen to experience from alot of pain and research, etc.

This person does not.

Oh I see. And given the response below I understand. Well... I think I am going to leave it alone now. You have more patience then I could muster for sure!

I can't thank you enough for all your research on the vitamin topic!  I continue to be absolutely stunned by my doctor recommending Flinstones.  As I get closer to sugery, I am trying to do a lot of research to make sure I'll be healthy far into the future.  I'm wondering if you would share with me what you take each day and which brands you use?  I respect your opinion greatly!  Any additional suggestion/ recommendations for someone who hopes to become pregnant 2 years after surgery?  I'm just looking for your opinions in order to make my own decisions, don't want to quote you or hold you to it!!
Thanks for all your time!

I take pill-form vitamins.  So until your doc clears you for those, then don't ask what I take.

Chewable multivite suggestions:
Celebrate bariatric vites -- online only, take 2 per day and they stack up very well
Centrum Silver chewables -- available almost anywhere, take 2 per day, stack up well.. but not as good as Celebrate, but better than Optisource

Calcium --
Vitamin World as TwinLab Citrate wafers.. get citrate.
Or order from Bariatric Advantage online, or building blocks.  Dunnow if Celebrate has any.

Iron -
I've heard rave reviews about building blocks iron from someone I trust (she's *almost* as sarcastic as I am).

B-12 --
A sublingual, either dot or liquid is best for 90% of RNY patients.  I've heard great things about Trader Joe's if you have one around.  But they are pretty much available anywhere.

As for pregnancy 2 years postop, make sure your labs are good, find an OB that is willing to do labs every 8 weeks, and find a good nut that knows pregnancy nutrition.  And, come visit us on the postop preggie board and we'll help out.
