Anyone take Clonazepam after gastric bypass?  I'm just wondering if it is safe for us.

I take it.  Haven't had any issues and my doctors (psychiatrist and surgeon) didn't have any issue with my taking it.  I had to cru**** for the first month but then I could go ahead and swallow it.  Of course, everything's different for everyone so I'd just check with the surgeon and the person who prescribes it for you.

Good luck,

I wouldn't expect the drug to be any more dangerous than before RNY surgery (which is to say, not very dangerous at all, when taken according to directions.)

I think there may even be a liquid/oral form you could take right after surgery, but because it's a benzodiazepine, it's pretty unlikely your doctor would advise that for you unless you were in the hospital under supervision. Two things of note with klonopin -  it is very hard to get off of and can cause you to underproduce certain neurotransmitters (specifically GABA) over time, so make sure to keep talking with your MDs about whether this is the right medication for you.
