B12 and guilt
There's a rumour initiated by the HOUSE MD tv show that B12 deficiency causes excessive guilt. Is this true?
I been taking B12 religiously for some time now due to my surgery and still can't sleep well at night. My guilt over my divorce makes it very hard. It's been nearly a decade and it still tears me apart. If only I could go back in time....
I just want to know if there is a link between B12 and guilt. I need to move forward and this horrible, agonizing pain in my soul doesn't help.
Oh well, I'm off to bed. 4:57AM....nite!

Oh for pete's sake what a bunch of hog wash!
I am low in my B12 and do not have excessive guilt.
You have other issues going on right now, get to a doctor to help you with it. Something is wrong with your sleep patterns or have your thyroid checked. I found out that I was hyperactive with my thyroid and I had a horrible time sleeping. The testing showed I had Grave's disease and had to have my thryoid killed off.

Naw, I have been feeling guilty for decades before WLS and any deficiencies.
I am sorry your are in this kind of pain. Someone once said to me " If you have one foot in yesterday and the other foot in tomorrow, you end up ******g all over TODAY. Sounds trite but it has really helped me appreciate my blessings and not ruminate about things in my past I cannot change.
Peace to you,
Pam

Hi!
THough I think the b vitamins are good for you. I doubt they have anything to do with guilt. You just have to get over your situation and memories and move on. That is what you have to do for your own sake. We all do things in life where we wish we would have handled it better. I carry guilt for a few things. Somehow I have to say enough is enough and just let it go. You will make yourself sick dwelling on the past. I don't know the situation so I can't speak on it. But let it go. Some things we can change, other things we just have to realize we have no control over. Don't beat yourself up, push the negative thoughts out of your mind by thinking of things you are grateful for. You have lost a lot of weight and look terrific. THAT is positive. I know it is hard to do, but if you accomplished that, you can accomplish anything. Move on and become mentally healthy, you have done it physically.
Good luck

I feel lots of guilt, shame, sadness. Very depressed. Last week the phych doctor changed my care plain. A group of doctors got together and discussed my case. They come up with I am border line personality disorder. I don't know who I am. And I cling on to my kids. It makes me sick as a doggie when they even go anywhere. And they are ages 23 and 18. I have the fear of being left alone forever. I take b 12 and it just gives me energy. You might want to see a doctor about the sleeping. I don't sleep. It can come from mental issues. LOL and I have tons of them. Hope things work out for you. I know how hard a divorce is. Mine was very nasty.

Christian,
Im sorry you are feeling so guilty about your divorce. I honestly dont think there is a relationship between B 12 deficiency and guilt.
In terms of guilt as a symptom of something, excessive guilt IS a symptom of depression. And so is change in sleeping habits.
I would strongly suggest that you get in to see your primary care doctor and tell them how you are feeling and that your sleep is disturbed. Have her screen you for more symptoms of depression. Perhaps you can also seek help from a licensed social worker or psychologist. Someone to talk to can help immensely with these feelings.
I really wish you the best and I hope that you can come to terms with the cir****tances of your divorce and give yourself a break and be gentle on yourself.
Take care and good luck,
Michelle

A divorce 10 years ago and you are stressing over it? Get over it! See a shrink if you need to. You have to deal with the past to enjoy your further. You create guilt on your own.
