1 year out or more RNY - how many calories do you eay daily?

Just curious. I'm a little over one year out and I get in about 1,500 calories a day but what scares me is that if I didn't log all of my food, I can totally eat more. It's not that I can eat large portions, but I prefer doing the mini meal thing and some days I can get carby with the snacking and a bit out of control really. I also work out quite a bit and find that on the days I work out I feel I need to eat more. I'm wondering what everyone else around a year out or more is eating. Any info appreciated.. Thanks!

Why are you eating peanut butter crackers and cookies?  You had a gut rearranging surgery and you're eating this stuff?   Dude, C'mon!  If you must have something to crunch, at least make it something healthy-ish.  You're getting very little nutrition from this and a lot of simple carbs and fat and sugar.

Try triscuit and low fat cheese & ham/turkey/tuna (nuked) or guiltless gourmet chips and salsa (for starters) and drop the cookies altogether.  If you started a thread asking for ideas to replace the peanutbutter crackers and cookies with healthier options, I bet you'd get tons of  ideas.

Think back to a year ago when you vowed to change your ways/eating habits.  You wanted to do whatever it took to get healthy.  Eating this isn't the way.

You can do better, I know you can!

I eat about 1200 calories per day at 9 months out, and can definitely eat more if I don'****ch it - have to beware the carb-y snacking.  You do have to adjust your eating to your activity level - had to add more whole grains when I started Tae Kwon Do, or I was absolutely starving -- and I have to eat a snack before I go to class or I lose energy before the end.  I try hard to eat fruit and protein for my snacks and to limit the carbs, and if I do this, I eat really sensibly. --Sarah

I plan meals using a food exchange system but it works out to around 1500-2000 cal per day for maintence. If I want to drop a few pounds I adjust the exchanges and it probably puts me in the 1100-1400 cal a day range.

Calories needed differ per person based on height, age and activity level. Someone 5'8" age 24,may be able to eat 2000 calories a day.
Me at 5'2" almost, 39 yrs old and moderately active needs about 1200 to lose very slowly!

Peace and Blessings, Melinda
