OMG!! This is like torture!! This is the worst crap I have ever had to drink and I have to have 2 bottles down before 10. Every sip  makes me want to throw up. I had some pain last week and surgeon wants to make sure everything is doing okay.

Did the place for the CT scan mark the bottles for you? For example - what you should be drinking every 15 minutes? This usually helps some. Try to drink a few sips every 15 mins. Think of it as a thick vanilla milk shake. :-)  I know its nasty , i am sorry you got to drink this crap. However, try to drink as much as you can without gagging. If you can't do it, you can't do it. But try hard to fini****

Good luck

I dont think this is the same thing. My test post op was nothing like that. I had to drink about a tablespoon of contrast and they followed it with an xray to make sure everything passed thru and no leaks.

I did this before leaving the hospital and can tell you what is worse is the half gallon of swill you have to swallow the night before a colonoscopy. OMG I am dreading the next one already and it is years away.

Just an FYI for the colonoscopy, they do have pills you can take instead of the drink. Sometimes it is a Dr's choice, so you have to ask. I think heart pateients cannot take the pill (I could be wrong), but othe than that, find a Dr that will give the pills instead. Much easier!!!

im an xray /ct tech so i thought id chime in on this one the stuff you drink post op is very different than what she is trying to drink for the ct - i know it doesnt taste good but it really helps look at your intestinal tract and they will likely give you some other contrast in your vein as well this helps your arteries and blood vessels light up on the ct they work together to get a really good look at your insides.   the down side to not choking the drink down is sometimes the dr will have u get it in the other direction if you know what i mean!!!   not fun!!!  hope your ct goes well today!!

My son had to do the CT scan 2 weeks after MY surgery (he was diagnosed w/testicular cancer and they had to do this to see if it had spread) and no matter what helpful hint I gave him...he couldn't stomach the stuff (no pun intended for we the pouchers).  He'd sip and puke.  Sip and puke.  Now, he has to have one of these CT scans ever 3 months for 5 years.  There's no way for you to get both of those bottles in you...but they'll have enough to illumintate you!  don't worry!
I'm becoming half the person I was...but I'm also becoming twice the woman!
