unless i travel - i usually order a regular meal and take home leftovers - i just get an appetizer or two.

Most restaurants do not mind replacing my carbs (potato, pasta, rice) with an extra portion of veggies.  And then i have meals for 2-3 more time.

i got mine from my surgeon
you might ask at your dr office if they have such a thing
it just states that you have had WLS and can only eat small portions.....etc

Why would you need a discount card? Just order a healthy meal, and either bring home leftovers or leave them at the restaurant. Naturally thin people who eat small amounts don't get a discount, why should we? I don't think we as WLS patients should expect special treatment from restaurants because of our surgical choices. They still have to pay their employees.

She is going to Golden Corral and that is a buffet. I have not been to one myself but I understand that it is one of the best buffets around.

Nah, it's kinda crappy, actually.  Buffets are typically quantity over quality.  (Unless you're at the Mirage in Vegas - /grin)

With so many other restaurant choices that are NOT buffet-style, why not just go somewhere and order a small healthy item from a menu?

The card I have isn't for a discount, but rather asks if the patient (explaining they had major stomach surgery) if they can order off the childrens menu.......I haven't used mine, or rather I haven't had too, I just ask if it's ok if I order off the childrens menu ( usually they only have garbage as well, so I don't bother)......I get soup, or something healthier.......but my surgeon did give me a card explaining wls and asking if patients can order off the other menu if needed. I have gone to a buffet with family on vacation, I didn't pay to eat, I did get a cup of soup and that was all, so I put extra money into the tip at the end of the meal to pay for what soup would of cost me. And since I can't drink with meals that was all I had, but no use going to a buffet and trying to eat garbage for sure........you can get soup, veggies etc...Sorry Tiffany not all this was for you, just wanting others to know my experience........have a good day. :)
