As it turns out one of the ladies, Betsy Gannon, killed at LA Fitness worked with my sister and one of the other ladies,Heidi Overmeir, a single mother, has a son that is going into the 10th grade at our high school.
The gunman lived about 3 blocks from me and only 1 street away from Lora.
Lora is on vacation this week but I did call her and tell her what happened.

Theres a young man out there that has to grow up without his Mom.
Please keep the families in your prayers.

The more I read about the man, the more upset I become.  Yesterday I was reading his blogs on the computer at work and I was feeling very sad for this man because it was obvious that he was hurting because of his loneliness and his inability to connect, however there are a million other ways to deal with that loneliness and disconnect.  It just reminds me that you never know who you are working with, passing in the grocery store, or sitting beside on a bus....you just never know when depression and psychosis or anything else that he suffered from just takes a hold of a person and pushes them over the edge.  When I read the articles about those women, I just sobbed....especially about Heidi's son.  Just tragic and heartbreaking.

Onederland..... life is grand!!! WELL IT WAS WHEN I WAS THERE; NOW LIFE SUCKS!
I bleed Black n' Gold....STEELER FOOTBALL.....it's in my soul!

If you want the rainbow you've got to put up with the rain!!!

Both of the ladies will be at Slaters Funeral Home on Greentree Road at the same time. I'm sure the parking lot will be overflowing. I live just 2 streets away from Slaters. My husband went to St Margarets and Canevin with Betsy, she was a year ahead of him.
All this literally happened too close to home.

P.S., My son just got at job at the Panera on Greentree road today, he starts next Wednesday.

My daughter and her family live in Bellevue PA, so we knew about it before most people here in Northern Kentucky.  She and her whole church are praying for the victims' families.  It's just unthinkable.  I can't imagine how you are feeling, having it happen so close to home.

It has had an impact on everyone especially in this area. Just knowing that a young boy from our high school doesn't have his mom anymore is a tragedy.
I go to a different gym but it really scared my 13 year daughter and she slept with us the past two nights to be close to me.
