Protein shakes for meal replacement pre-op... good idea? Or bad idea?
So for the last two days I have drank protein meal replacements for breakfast. And yesterday I had them for breakfast and lunch.
Honestly they tasted pretty good... I added fruit to one one day. And I added just ice the next. The first day I was starving. The second day wasn't so bad. I don't know if it's because I drank different kinds. The first day I drank bariatric advantage for breakfast. Bariatric Fusion for lunch. I was starving.
Today I drank Chicke for breakfast and wasn't hungry until lunch. I actually was pretty full.
And I've been eating normal dinners. Actually I ate crap for dinner today. But I figured it helped that I ate very low cal the rest of the day.
So... is it safe? Advisible?
A good idea? Or a bad idea to drink these for meals sometimes pre-op?
Especially for breakfast it's nice not to have to worry about what I'm going to eat. Just drink it in the car on the way to work.

Yes, its perfectly healthy -- people hwo never had WLS drink them all the time! In fact, my 13 year old nephew LOVED the nasty syntrax nectar I had -- so I gave it to him and he drinks it after soccer games.

Good Luck!
Yes, it's safe.Yes, it's advisable.....very! If you'll do that and cut out white carbs and fried foods, you'll be in much better shape for your surgery......many surgeons require that you do that before surgery so your liver will be less fatty and easier to manipulate during the surgery. Detoxing from carbs will also help keep your glucose levels stable and keep you from having false hunger pangs and being tempted to eat when you really don't need to. ....it takes a couple of weeks for most people.
You also need to be practicing drinking lots of water/tea.....minimum 64 oz/day. And if you have
any 'addictions' like nicotine and/or caffeine, this is the time to be getting rid of them.....many surgeons won't operate on a smoker......and after surgery you should not drink carbonated drinks again...ever!
Just these simple steps will greatly increase your chances of success after surgery. You're on the right track.......keep up the good work!
