I got really sick on the protien powder with milk  so I switched to mixing it with juice.   Is there anything I cant mix it with?   I bought some pineapple juice because I love pineapples.  I thought it might make it a little more tolerable.   Well, I started thinking about it today and I started thinking about if the acid in the pineapple would "ruin" the protien.   I have been drinking it with Pineapple juice for 2 days.

I've just heard not to get it too hot. Not sure if it ruins the protein nutrients or if it just gets clumpy?

Since I hate protein in any form, my vote is whatever you can mix it with to make it tolerable go for it because any damage done to it would be better than not having it at all.

It can clump if it is too hot and if you put it in something hot sometimes it will curdle.  But, it still isn't ruined it just tastes odd.

Pineapple juice is loaded in sugar so I would avoid juice in any form if you can.  It isn't processed sugar but it is still sugar...check your label.  You can mix protein powder with about anything really.  I do not like protein powder as a whole and instead get my protein drinks already mixed.  I like ProteinBlitz and Worldwide shakes and still drink them even now....Nothing will "ruin" protein so that isn't a concern...enjoy bu****ch the juice.

Mix with anything...

crystal lite...

flavored soy milk

juice... add fruit.

I dont personally do juice, too much sugar and it makes me dump. But crystal lite has the same effect. Cures the boredom.

Can use Tea... brew and chill some tea... use vanilla mix in a blender, make like a chai-smoothie

or coffee

Go find Eggface... her page has a recipe guide for different shake combos.

Well... the caloric is a little higher than the skim milk, but I fix that by just reducing the amount of juice I use.   Since I am pre-op I dont have to worry about sugars too much... yet.   Doctor said I could drink juice as long as I stay within my caloric intake guidelines and I pick a no sugar added juice.

I Like pineapple juice and the flavor is strong.... so I thought it would mask the protien well.  It is better.   Not wonderful... but better.   Boy I am looking forward to the time I dont have to take these anymore.

at 60 calories for 4 ounces.... plus the 70 calories for the milk... I still stay within my 700-900 calorie limit and can still consume 5 shakes.

Oh didn't realize you were preop...sorry!

I bet the Isopure Banana/PineappleOrange powder would be awesomewith pineapple juice!

I usually just mix wtih water and add a little SF Orange Jello for an OJ boost -- but I have to watch sugar now.

I think you could mix in just about anything -- as long as that anything has the right stats.

For instance, sugar makes me dump so Ia lready know that pineapple juice, for me, would be a horribly choice.

Some people have problems with coffee-- but I mix almost all of my shakes with cold decaf.  I love some chocoalte or latte protein with soy slender and sf hazelnut... yum!

I would be more concerned with the acid irritating your new pouch post-op.  Maybe after a couple of months, but not directly after.

I am over 3 months out and still have things irritate my pouch.

The acid in pinapple or orange juice would probably not be a good idea; it won't hurt the protien, but it could be harsh on your stomach.  However, the main reason not to add juice to it is the huge amount of sugar in juice.  Even if you don't dump on it, it's alot of extra calories.  I have used Ocean Spray Diet juice (not the Lite one) which has only 3g sugar per serving.  You could use some Orange Crystal Lite in it.  I use soy milk , which has no lactose and probably won't make you sick, and ice and blend it thick enough to eat with a spoon.  I also toss in some Davinci sf syrups to liven it up a bit.  If you want fruit in it, try making it with soy milk or water, and then throwing in frozen pinapple.  There isn't nearly as much sugar in whole fruit as there is in fruit juice.
