Is it true after surgery I will feel cold all the time?

I live in the middle of a desert in the Middle East and I am always cold in the office. I have to go outside to get to a normal feeling body temperature.

A lot of people experience hair loss. Make sure you are getting enough protein. That will help a lot. Also, Biotin is good to help with the regrowth. I take it with my iron. Do not take iron or biotin when you take calcium.

Kuwait is not bad. For the most part, Americans are very welcome. I was surprised at how Westernized a lot of things were. But, that being said, there are some very different ideas floating around in this country. I've been here 6 years and I've seen really interesting things. Like the women over here getting the right to vote. And in the first election they could vote in, they had about 36 women candidates.

I am always hot but then again I am menopausal and have alot of other hormonal problems.  I am not sure which is worse, being hot or cold.  I walk around sweating all the time.

Hair loss....

At 10 weeks I started to notice an increase in hair loss, approximately twice the normal level, for about 3 months. I had a lot of volume, and lost about half. Didn't look bad until it started to grow back, so I eventually cut my hair short. Looks better, and the volume is back, looking better than ever.

Regarding the temperature, last summer I was freaking FREEZING.... but then the temp warmed up (I do live in AZ, so it's HARD to be cold when it's 110 outside).... but now that the temp is down to the mid to high 70's at night, I'm starting to feel the cold. I expect that the coming winter will be COLD for me. I bought leg warmers, slippers that warm up in the microwave, and teddy bears that warm up in the oven. Plus I have hubby, who is a great bed-warmer too. S'long as I dress for the weather, I am not overwhelmingly cold.

I am freezing all, the time. The other day it was 77 and I was in a heavy sweatshirt and I was still cold. I sat outside with my sweater and down comforter and still had a chill. My hands and feet are like ice cubes as i write this. I figured it was because my body has to regular itself again.

I had a lot of hair loss. It upset me so I cut all 33" inches off. It was my rational response at the time. But it stopped for the most part. I would have clumps of hair in my hand when I shower.  I don't think taking such drastic measures will be beneficial but I also had, and still do, an identity crisis. Jus t remember to get your protien. Protien is the key.

This is life changing. The doctors don't tell you everything.  Everyone experiences the surgery different. Remeber different strokes for different folks. I got the gastric sleEve. I was 397 and I am not 255. Mentally I am not very stable and struggle with depression. I am happier but I hate the way I look. I feel worse about myself now but never did before. I suggest seeing a therapist about 6 weeks after surgery And forward. The support groups are good but they aren't always the best when you feel the way I do.

Hi All,

I'm asking those that have had the gastric bypass surgery a few years ago.
Do you feel cold all the time? I heard that I will feel cold all the time, is this true?

Also, I heard I will experience hair loss, any idea how long before that stops?

Thanks
Coco

No, you just won't feel hot all the time.

Hair loss, different with each person.  There is no way to determine if you will be one that loses hair or not.
