Is it OK to crush my Citracal calcium citrate tabs?  I bought the petites thinking I could swallow them whole but I'm afraid to.  I want to use these up before I purchase any chewables, if possible.

Do not crush any pill ever with out checking with your personal doctor.  Medications are metabolized differently and can have a bad reaction if crushed.

With that being said, I used a pill cutter and cut the petites in half. At times it would go the wrong direction and be a little uncomfortable going down. Save the petites for later and buy chewable now. You will use the pills later and not waist them. I believe I was further out than you are when I started cutting the petites.

As I nurse, my professional opinion is to never crush anything.  Talk to the pharmacist or your doc.  Medications are made to be broken down a certain way.  Same with splitting pills.  You can only cut a tab in half if there is a score mark on them.

As the first poster said, you will use these tablets.  Right now, buy chewables or swallow what you have whole.  I take mine whole, although I am further out than you are.

I have tried every calcium chewable known to mankind. I'm currently doing the Celebrate berry and creme flavor.

I usually have more flavors laying around or I'd offer you samples.

good luck!

I quit taking the calcuim pills take the flinstones complete chewable they are just as good.  Doctor has  me on those also Citracal calcium citrate tabs are ok to crush i did check with the doctor and pharmacist on this.  Before i take any pill that needs to be crused i ask the pharmacist first.  My gyn doctor gave me prenatals and they cant be crushed and they know i am a gastro patient and should have given me chewables.  They dont listen to us when we talk.

so are you taking the calcium in addition to your flinstones? cause you need to.

also B12 and probably D

Lots of people get up in arms over the Flinstones. I'd just make sure you are getting all of your B's in and keep an eye on your A. I have heard the Flinstones have the wrong kind of A for us.

I am bad about regularly taking my iron so I have to keep an eye on that. I drink so much caffeine I struggle to fit it in! oops!

as long as you are on top of it!

isn't it strange how different we all are?

I've struggled to get actual copies of my labs from my doc. My B12 is in normal range but trending down

I don't think my doc tests for Vitamin A every time that is why I mentioned it to you
