best chip or cracker choices or alternatives
im supposed to avoid pasta, rice, crackers, bread and torillas untill im 6 months post -op. most things i have no problem avoiding, i do however love 3 or 4 ritz crackers with my string cheese. i eat that almost daily. i also make a killer salsa that i only like to eat on corn chips. the chips and slasa i have only had maybe 2 times so its not a problem. i would like to enjoy these 2 items but perhaps theres better choices. im looking for something pretty close in texture to the chips and crackers that i can find in the grocery store. so what kind of chips or crackers do you eat? brand? nutrition facts? im lost when it comes to what is better then the next one, whole grain, whole wheat, whole this, whole that, less this, less that.....
My favorite protein chips are those made by Revival..15 sacks n a box - they come in several flavors......you can get them either from their own website or from www.bariatriceating.com (they've got lots of other good bariatric products on that site, too).
I like Wasa Crispbread for when I need a crunch or I put some good cheese (meaning good quality) like A nice Cheddar, Parmesan, Swiss, Muenster or Colby Jack etc onto some parchment paper on a cookie sheet and bake it in the oven till gold and bubbly. Take it out and let it cool and voila..crisp cheese crackers with little carbs and taste better than any store bought chip.
Ditto. I found a brand with 70 cal per serving and 13g protein. Pork rinds are my new crackers.

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
I use whole grain reduced fat crackers. Just a few arent bad for you. Also, when I really need a snack, I will have a bit of non-buttered popcorn or some pork skins, which have a fair amount of protein in a serving. Also, there are Kays Naturals that have a variety of protein chips, cereals etc. They are quite good, but in my opinion, pricey. You can google them to order.

I love the Wasa crispbreads too. Here's the stats for (one approx 2"x5" cracker), the multigrain variety:
