Protein question

I'm still really new to this - Wed. will be a week post op. I just had my first protein shake today and it went down ok but then came out way too well! I think it was only in for about 30 minutes before I had to "go", how long do you need to be able to retain it to get the benefits of the protein? Should I try a different kind of protein shake?

As long as it went through your system you are okay. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you need protein you like. So, if you like it, stick with it. Remember to drink a lot of water or Propel or G2 or something like that, too. Stay hydrated!

Good luck and congrats on your surgery.

How the heck do you know it was the protein shake that came out?  Did you load it with radioactive isotopes?

lol - that's the only thing I had today after having a terrible episode this morning - so it's go to be it! And in all honestly- this is going to be disgusting--it even smelled like the protein shake! ewwwww

Just make sure you get all of your protein, what kind of protein are you using?  Also, make sure you are getting in all of your water...

I'm using the syntrax nectars - yesterday was the carribean cooler (pretty good) and today is the chocolate truffle (not bad, but I"m still only a 1/4 through it).

Water is a different story - I feel like I am sipping on something all day long but I'm still not meeting my requirements. Plus doc says no drinking 30 minutes prior or 30 minutes after a meal - which really seems to be leave me with no time to get it in! I think I'm probably at about half of what I need. But I'm trying!

64 oz of water is 4 red solo beer cups...16 oz...you need 4 of them a day....you need to make sure you get that in...

Protein is just as important..(the first week is basically making sure you get your liquids in...but by the 2nd week..you need to get the proteins in 90-120 a day.
