My thought would be..do what your doctor says.  If you want it to work, then follow the diet plan set out by you surgeon.

Hey Girly! You know me my facebook friend with the same surgeon.  I just wanted to tell you that I tried an Itaian salad with green olives, tomatoes, and cucmbers a few days ago and it went down just fine. I was only able to eat about a 1/4 cup, but it was yummy and I didn't get sick.  I would wait until 7-8 weeks post op as well. I will be 8 weeks post op I beleive on next Monday. I did however get sick on a few blue berries tonight at dinner...??? I love fruit so I hope I can tolerate other fruits...I might wait another week on this because of the natural sugars fruits have. Anyways, You doing great girl...keep your chin up... I miss all my favorite foods as well, I know how you feel.

I was cleared for salads at 3 weeks out.  I had no problem at all.  I do think it helped that I've always eaten lots of veggies, so my body was able to handle it.

Fruit was another story.  I tried my first fruit, an apple, about 2 months post op.  Gave me the runs something awful.

If I were you, I would ask your Nut if you can try a little salad and if not, why.  You would definitely have to cut it small and of course, chew it really well.
